Here's some pics of my engine bay, the car is a CK LC XU-1 but doesn't have the original engine or nibless rims but I have taken care of those items and they will go into the car at some point down the track. I am interested to know what people can tell from what they can see from these pics...

Hi GTRXU1,
you aked what I can see, so I will tell you from a quick look.
don't take this as a crisism though.
Ignition switch worn and not turned off correctly as key should not come out in the on position.
Radiator guard plate HQ one, Torana should be the flat type.
Radiator cap lugs not alligned as they were originally square with radiator.
Regulator is the more modern type which looks to have been bypassed by a Japanese type, unless spotties were fitted.
Brake booster bracket wrong, as far as I know they never used a bit of flat strapping.
Brake failure switch used, this matches model.
Going by the Lucas wiper motor it looks to be Adelaide produced, chassis number seems to confirm this, can't read date.
Rocker cover grommet has been fitted upside down, the early ones are the same but are fitted the other way.
PCV valve is a HZ one, original was a servicable Hexagonal one with a straight outlet barb.
Oil filler cap is an aftermarket one.
Alternator pulley is the small one and the adjustaing strap is the single type, not sure when these started.
Cylinder head is a smoother casting like used in the HR's, this seems to be confirmed by the 74 part number and lack of H at the rear of the head.
And finally the air cleanwers are obviously wrong.
I am not a LC owner so there may be a few things I have missed, but maybe this will assist in your restoration.
Mike

The steel fuel line from the fuel pump to the junction block at the middle carby has had a section cut out and rubber hose inserted.
A fuel filter has been installed in the supply hose to the fuel pump.
The vacuum pipe to the distributor appears to be a rubber hose that goes up and over the rocker cover (should be a 3/16" steel tube that goes from the middle carby to the front of the engine and then follows the fuel pipe across and down towards the fuel pump before heading to the distributor) and it seems to have been fitted with what looks to be a non-return valve sitting on top of the rocker cover.
Rocker cover is painted not chromed.
Missing the choke junction block and front and rear carby choke cables.
Brake master cylinder is alloy not cast iron type (depends on desired originality level)
Note: Later genuine LC & LJ replacement radiators had the raised guard plate so as a spare part it is correct but for period originality it is not.
