My mate Vic Rhodes.
After months of trying to find a clear image of the number plate on the car, I thought I had it sussed, purchased the plates, then got my mate Vic to do a rego search to confirm.
I first went and asked at Vic's Burwood branch what was involved in searching rego plates.
Vic: Take this form, fill it in and they'll let you know in a week or 2.
A week or so later, I dropped in to Vic's HQ in Kew, speak to nice reception lady, she puts me through to nice search lady, me and nice search lady and she says:
"Attatch a letter, because you are searching plates and not a car, it will be a history search from the archives...$15
So........go home............fill in form, take to Vic's Carlton branch a few days later.
Vic: $8 thanks.
Me: $8 ???? they told me $15 ???
Vic: Nup. Says here $8
Me: You sure?
Vic. Yep.
Payed $8 and left.
A few days later............
Vic's Kew branch (HQ) send me a letter: Sorry, we can't proceed with your search, go pay another $7 at a Vic branch and get them to fax the receipt.
A day or 2 later........
Back to Vic's Carlton branch, show letter, pay $7.
Vic says: I'll fax this off now.
Me: Cheers big ears.
A month goes by.............
Go to Vic's HQ at Kew, speak nicely to nice receptionist and she puts me through to nice search lady.
Me and nice search lady and she says:
"I never received the fax. Get nice receptionist lady to photocopy the letter we sent and the 2 reciepts and I'll come down later, pick them up from reception and sort it out myself."
Me: Cheers big ears.
4 or 5 days later:
The letter turns up with the search result saying:
Dear Idiot,
You bought the wrong plates.
He! He!
Cheers,
Big Ears
More to come..........................................

The search for KNT-514
After I was told what the real rego number was and had a clear pic, I ordered the plates then did another search.
I went back to Vic's Carlton branch, walked in, and was met at the automatic "take a ticket" machine by on of Vic's reps.
Rep: Good afternoon, can I help you?
Me: sigh.............
Rep: Is it a rego? Licence enquiry?
Me: sigh............. Have you got 1/2 an hour? Come over to the desk and I'll show you what I want and what's been happening.
I show him the new search papers, letter & reciepts from the first search and explain what had happened and how long it took.
Rep's up for the challenge!
I spent the next 10 mins or so watching him scurrying behind the counters, backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards, chatting to this one, getting that one to look at it, ducking in and out of offices behind the counters.
Finally, I see him at a cashiers counter
He calls me over, ensures me it will be taken care of then dissappears.
Checkout chick looks at the papers, punches in the rego number..............
CC: $8 thanks.
Me:
CC: That's what it costs?
Me: NO!!! It should be about $15 !!!!!!!!!!! Didn't you listen to what Rep said?????
CC: Hang on (punches in more numbers) $23?
Me: (thinking maybe it's gone up?) Yes, fine, thank you.
CC then prints out the receipt..................
Wait for it.........................
$15.......................
I'm glad I don't have to deal with them on a daily basis.

Sooner or later you will realise that Holden/GMH is into flogging new cars as their core business, not nostalgia. I had this confirmed at Toranafest 2010, and it makes perfect sense.
Yeah, but its ok when they did that new Ute Add that starts with a Nostalgia old holden ute that transforms into other nostalgic other holden utes and finnish up to the currant ute in the add, must be ok to use that info when it suits them, there core business is selling new cars, but its the older cars that got them there to where they are now, still should keep some history for sure.

I'm always envious on how much support the Ford guys get from Ford.
Anyways, that's just the way it is.

Kinda like Snap-On now doesn't give out free stuff, not even stickers! Everyone knows who they are and what they do... Why waste money on freebies that aren't gonna get them any more business?
I reckon it's cool that you've tracked down those plates and gone to so much effort to find the history of them, even if only die hard fans will appreciate them... I would have just thought you wanted Daisy Chain plates but KNT was the closest you could get...
Anyhoo, love ya work (now that I know the significance of what you're doing) and good luck getting the info you're after!

Anyone got pix of the Munro with the plates attached?
The plot thickens!
This is a HG Monaro but the paper work has a HT chassis number?
A few senarios:
Vicroads got it wrong?
The HG in the pic was actually the HT with HG parts fitted prior to release? Prototype/media car?
The HG is actually a HG with the plates from the mystery HT fitted?
Did Holden invent Velcro?
