LES, the number plate wire grommit which goes on the rear beaver panel for LH-UC is larger than the item you sell in the 'kit'!

i.e... it doesn't fit!

I am not 100% sure what you mean , are you saying the grommet is different than the grommet in the kit or the grommet in the kit is too big because they are the same grommet.
I will have the grommet fitted to our LH ASAP.

The grommit in the kit is too small to fit the Torana.

I see the same part is listed to fit the EH, but it doesn't fit the tory.

The number plate stop grommits were too small also, but i think i used them on the boot lid.

Any result on the formentioned grommit Les?

I had another look yesterday & noticed that the supplied grommit is the same size/shape as the rear demister wire grommit.

A question for Les or Cav, does Rare Spares make the repo steering wheels or out source them, either way is it possible to get our own wheels reco'd.

Hi Glenn
Les is on holidays at the moment , the LC headlamp rims will not be started until we finish the LJ ones , we have just rcieved a sample , if approved we will have stock by the end of November. We have not started the LC grille and I would not expect to this year as we have over 450 parts on the go at present

I heard yesterday that the GTR steering wheel isn't 5mm, it's 3mm due to safety factors.
Is this true? or false info being fed to me :-)

No, it is true. An ADR change back in the mid/late 70's resulted in the spokes on the genuine production and replacement sports steering wheels being reduced from 5mm thickness to 3mm.
It would not be illegal to fit a new or old 5mm spoke wheel on a pre ADR car, however it would render an ADR applicable car unroadworthy.
For this reason only the 3mm spoke wheels are allowed to be made.

Hi Les, And other respective RSP fellows,

Couple of things i hope you can help me with.

As part of my LX hatch restoration, i bought a complete rubber kit for the car shortly after purchasing my body shell etc. And to be honest, that was back in 24/10/2001...I still have the receipt !~
It has only come to be now that i have gotten the car to a point of reassembly ( good things come to he who waits. ) The Rubber kit box was sealed and unopened for the last 11 years till last week.
All packaging was in excellent condition. No rats or the likes getting into it etc. Much to my relief.

-Its come to my attention that the early hatch seals #RBS1016 are 'inadequate' that have been supplied in the rubber kit i have to perform as required or make shutting that hatch itself very difficult.
Is there any chance of having my seal replaced with a current, correct fitting one ?

-PS: When i opened the drivers door seal bag #RDS1032 and removed the seal, i noticed that one of the white plastic door seal "T" retainers was broken and the offending part floating around in the bottom of the bag. Do you have spare "T" pieces in your listings? (The door rubber or seal itself is fine and fitted well to the car.... Albeit a need to give the door a good shunt to get it closed.. Havent fitted the LHS yet..)

PPS: One of my Door belts - #RDB1064 - window dust wiper seals ( To suit 2 door Hatch ) that was supplied in the kit, has a clip missing and another one fell out of the rubber when carefully removing it from its packaging. I was considering trying to refit the one clip that i have but noticed that most most of the clips on this particular dust seal dont appear to be "through" the steel and rubber band very much as compared to the other 3 seals i have. In my personal and professional opinion, One could assume that that this seal may or could fail shortly after or during fittment to the door. Is there any chance of an exchange/replacement on this part ?

My Mrs is starting to get cranky with me with my second mortgage in rare spare parts for the car, so any assistance here would be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Scott

Hi guys,

Just letting everyone know that the new GTS / SLR style side mirrors are now in stock. I went to the Eastside Cruisers club night at Bayswater earlier tonight and bought myself a pair. These have only been on the shelves for the last 5 days or so - after something like 18 months waiting for the new supplier to take affect. AWESOME!! Can't wait to get them on the car. Early reports are the quality is awesome, and better than the last supplier. Was also told these mirrors are receiving a 100% quality check too.
