Front end back in, this was the easiest bit of the whole day!

Ok so we put it all together thinking OH it will be heaps easier to do it this way......nope

What happend was, the upper control arm bolt, wouldn't fit around the spring and it wouldn't go in from the other direction we found this out after we already took a while getting the spring into place properly. So then we had to pull the spring off and bolt the upper control arms in THEN we had to put the spring back on and yea it was a frOcking pain in the ass. Plus laying in sand and grit with sweat dripping off you does wonders for your skin!

Finaly we finished

Hey mate i'm not sure if you have found the spare wheel wells or not but there are these on ebay from aussie restos http://www.ebay.com....=item3a7d4bb29e

For $220 it may still be better to make one?

Cheers

I purchased one of those spare wheel wells from Aussie restos and I have to say they are well worth the money. It fitted excellent in my lj.

Yea still thinking about it ill see what the panel beater says hopefully ill get into contact with him next week.

Ok so i did my money sums today

I have a bit over 13k
Minus sandblasting and engine i have a bit over 8k so im where i predicted i was going to be which is good!
Upside is my boss still owes me a shitload of money (i think/hope he does) But due to a shit wage that could end up being only 1k or so. Get off my ass soon and get a new job but i want to do a bit more of the car first because ill be away for 3months or so with the new job. And i dont want it to take me 10 years to finish!

Now it'll only be stuck in the back corner of the panel beaters shed for 2 years before you drag it out and end up doing it yourself!

Yep that's an all to often story rim.

The industry isn't interested cos there's more money in insurance repairs. Most people have a fit when some one says 8k to redo an old car so the shops get sick of wasting there time talking to dreamers. The reason these old car rests take for ever is cos the insurance stuff is number 1. If they don't keep up they may lose clientele.

they seem to of done the 3 infront of mine pretty quick.

Plus the boss (the guy we talked to all the time) Actualy wants to open a panel shop just doing old cars because that is what he is interested in. They usualy have 3 older cars in the shop at all times were as the other panel shops around here only have 1.

Which is one of the reasons we chose this guy, plus he was actualy interested in it were as the others didn't really seem to give a toss.

Finaly found my old photos and things on the old computer and moved them to this one.....going through 464mb worth of photos is tiring stuff.

But i found the list of colours i had from a while back they are-

Salamanca Red 1824

Indy Orange 12204
Sebring Orange 11429
The Lone O'Ranger 13135
Casino Blue 17297
Sable 15336
Burgundy, Maroon
Sting red

I got a while to decide but figured i would try start doing it now so i know what i want when the time comes rather then pick something in a hurry and end up regreting it.
Ones i prefer are in bold.....I like red and orange but they are fairly common.

I love this colour
Posted Image

which is Nightfire Red Pearl Metallic (honda colour)But being metalic im thinking it would cost me more....but i like it lol....

thoughts?

Or this

Yea it is half the size of a shipping container i guess (maybe a bit less)...He can walk in it and around the bike and it has a few shelfs in it. Bolted to the ground etc etc.

Got the shits with the bank.
Put deposit on the motor that one is fine!
Plan is to reco everything new seals etc, then mostly do the bottom end and make that bullet proof. The head is already a high performance head so he isn't doing much to that, i can do all that at a later date.

BUT frOck BANKS frOck SAKE RAWR

so, for some reason my awesome grandma gave me 1k again....So basicly ive got an extra 1500 than what i thought i would have

I might get a new rubber kit for it soon assuming they will need it for the doors to line everything up. Might just get the door boot and bonnet rubbers or get the full kit i dont know yet.

Does anyone know about those bonnet hindges with the gas strut and who makes them/if they are made for ljs?

Hi mate, as for colours i'd personally stick right away from any special effect & candy paints, otherwise just pick 1 of a brand new car you like but harder to touch up including stone chips. & also the original don't date as much you see so many fad from 3-5 years ago & once it's over they just look dated & shit, so unless you want to keep spending $$ & changing things a timeless classic to me makes more sense & allways looks good. Sebringn tangerine, indy orange, lone-o-ranger & salamanca allways look good on these cars & new paint allways looks good cyan would be the only blue i myself would consider & theres shitloads of blue lj's being built nowadays but thats just my opinion & $950 for hinges ??? $200 for a set of newly blue zinced hinges max, that's $750 more towards seats mate. I love the look of zinc bits, black engine bays no braid, just neat & clean some cars are allready doing this in show scenes just my view, best of luck mate.
