If you buy bog and intend doing a fair bit of work, dont stuff around with the little tins, get a 4 litre size tin

Good on you for getting on with the small stuff. It's important.

Careful grinding welds as they might look ugly, but without them you are compromising the joins integrity.

I was gonna get a mini tin and see how good i am but we will see.

Yea the rod was sorta the ugly bit, for some reason it stuck out around 2mm or so above the weld. So i basicly just ground that back to the weld and didn't go any further.

Most bog you put on will come off again.

Most areas you do will probably end up being done 3 or more times until you get it right.

Buying little tins will work out very expensive.

Well, the plan is to do that 1 door and see if im happy with it before i start doing the rest of the car. I was going to do just the repairs and let a professional finish it off with all that for me. Ill see how i go.

heres another tip bud, epoxy primer bonds better to bare metal better than bog, while it is itself an even better surface for plastic fillers, because bog is hygroscopic, that means over time resins leach out of the filler making it dry and crumbly and allowing corrosion to set in,puting epoxy on first stops that ,and when you sand bog use 60 or 80p in an  x pattern and when you are getting close use a finer sandpaper to finish ,once you start to go through the epoxy primer ,just put another coat of epoxy over the bog,bog cant get wet either .hope that helps ya hamster

Gotta make a list of tips before i forget all this.

Thanks jason

So i put the pedals back together they are not to bad, the handbrake is all dusty and rat turd but i got no paint left. The wind picked up here the past few days and i just had the bits in the open garage drying but obviously the winds got in there and some dust and crap has stuck with the paint....so ill prob redo the handbrake.....pedals arn't to bad i can live with them.

And dunno if i should get paint. I think the orange field day is comming up next week or something so i might have a good look at some air compressors.....mind you it won't fit in the boot but yea ill have a look at all that stuff first and see which way im gonna shake.

DSC_2355_zpsba24a6cc.jpg

DSC_2356_zps476263f5.jpg

Then after all the family stuff dad couldn't get the kitchen done in his 3-4 weeks off so i figured i would attempt to help even though i have no idea what im doing.

DSC_2357_zpsc4ea6b0b.jpg

And now my arm is the purple and swollen from a frOcking bee sting i might have to go see those anoying doctor people. But ill wait for dad to get home seen as he knows all that shit being an ambo and in the rescue sqaud and w/e

What is that vice thing because i want one. My vice has pretty aggressive jaws and i always have to use rags to protect everything.

Vice softjaws - I got alloy and polyurethane ones from Dawn when I bought my 2 new vices.

Alloy ones still easily mark aluminium if you are hanging onto that.

Polyurethane soft jaws are too soft to really be much use for anything you want to hang onto very tight.

Timber soft jaws are the only thing I have found that can hang onto alluminium tight enough to work it without marking the surface badly.

Was gonna do stuff tomorow cause im home and realised i have no friken paint D:

So ill have to grab some more of that.

Dad was suposed to pick up the welder this week but im 90% sure he has forgotten and he gets a shoulder operation next thurs so......i might have to do that.

um....kitchen sorta kinda not really kinda sorta nearly done so shed should be free soon. Neil was gonna have an auction of his place but i think that isnt going ahead now im not sure but if it is.....i have 1-2weeks or what ever it was to get the car out of there which is no big deal providing i have room for it.

Might be getting a tiny wee bit of uncles money only gonna be half what his car gets sold for which could be me a new compressor and maybe some other bits.....its only a peugot so its not a great deal of monies but thats ok i wasn't expecting any (other half for bro) and i think im getting his music stuff im not sure (really happy about that if i am)

and yea so ill get some more paint might even look at seriously getting a better compressor whilst im at it.

edit: anyone has shit brands and good brands for compressors much appreciated

Get a belt driven compressor. You have engineering shops not far from you. Go talk to them.
