DSC_2455_zps3a736008.jpg

DSC_2456_zpsd91f76d4.jpg

still had to do a few bits by hand as usual.

DSC_2457_zpsaf1a53f3.jpg

to much paint again i guess......bonus is it has no run lines though. (then when i did the other side it had run lines sooo.....spewin)

DSC_2458_zps8d4e05a2.jpg

Belt driven, make sure it will run on whatever power points you have (10/15amp) and check the fittings make sure they are nice and not cheaply alloy stuff

Make sure if they are hanging you don't go too heavy as gravity will create runs. Apart from that you would be surprised the finish you can get. I hit a fuel pump cap with aerosol and it came up like 2k glass. Nowhere near as tough just goes to show how smooth and clean the surface has to be

Hamo

Plastic injection to hold the breakaway capsules in place on the column mounting bracket.

I reckon a hot melt glue gun would replicate that nicely. May need to heat everything up so the hot glue doesn't cool too quickly when it hits cold metal.

Yea i was just gonna dab a bit of glue on them, they came off pretty easy so it wasn't doing much. Unless someone had it off before im not sure.

The industrial shop i was thinking of has moved to camp town next to weldquip and dad can't think of anymore around here neither can i.

Sooooo as far as i know we are picking the welder up from weld quip so that will work out pretty good.

DSC_2469_zps5f3df51e.jpg

Sanded it all back this morning and painted it. I did it LIGHTLY FOR ONCE lol i did it so i could still just see the undercoat. Then waited a bit and put a bit more on (did that three times) ill prob do another coat tomorrow or something i can still see some small run marks so ill lightly sand it back and it should get rid of them.

DSC_2496_zps347b365d.jpg

So i attacked this

DSC_2497_zpsd9022359.jpg

Bering seems ok......

DSC_2499_zpsb24f6869.jpg

Shaft

DSC_2500_zps3ebc6b4d.jpg

This pin was that tight i almost gave up getting the stupid thing off i ended up heating it up and it came out, i thought i was gonna break the vice

DSC_2503_zps15e9a1ef.jpg

then i did a wee bit of painting

DSC_2504_zps7d092fb7.jpg

and because i thought ahead i could put it in the closed garage!

got it in there just in time too, felt a few spots of rain.

DSC_2501_zps9072c3d5.jpg

Not very happy anymore and i was doing so WELL!

DSC_2505_zps2c7cad6f.jpg

So i figured out this mumbo jumbo (im pretty sure they could of found of a better way to do it)

So basicly there is a tabe on the botton........thing we will call it. You lift that tab and you can turn the buttom thing right around. Then you wiggle the two leavers and everything pops out (literaly) so i go that all sorted. (gonna be an ass getting it back it at a guess)

DSC_2506_zpseec16329.jpg

all in pieces

DSC_2508_zps2b19b038.jpg

(thats just so i know what order everythings in)

DSC_2509_zps23c4f605.jpg

(order of plastic things)

DSC_2510_zps70cd9e14.jpg

all cleaned up (whole thing was really dirty for some reason, nut just grease but dirt)

Then that mofo bearing in the top of the collum. Oh ill just pop that out cause it would be safer so i dont get paint or anything in it and frOck it. Nek minit

DSC_2511_zps8d8ae5ee.jpg

frOcking stupid thing

DSC_2512_zps845a8e50.jpg

then i tried putting it back together

DSC_2513_zps5b6d1794.jpg

made up a make shift press

and after literaly an hour.........................

DSC_2514_zps3d814047.jpg

I ended up with this and it still isnt closed properly. you can move the bearing and balls come out the top and basicly its #@$^%& so what a great day!

Hamo, I admire your courage to pull everything apart. Not every ball bearing has to be restored. If the bearing was working fine I'd just grease it and put some tape over it before painting. If you get stuck just put it aside and ask the forum for advice. Great thread by the way, I'm feeling your highs and lows. Marty

Yea hindsight is a wonderful thing ;[ 65 bucks for a new one ._. nearly better off buying a new collum lol

I honestly thought it would just pop out. Like a normal bearing would......i guess not.

DSC_2515_zps36ac0246.jpg

seen as the bearing isn't an issue now....i striped this back..

DSC_2516_zpsffd02e20.jpg

Painted this (figured i would leave the grate bit cause the paint was pretty good and its covered anyways.

DSC_2517_zpsc0cd7dcd.jpg

Highlight of the day was to see this wayyyyyyyy better than all my other paint jobs.

So went to lens wallis audio to sort some things out geoff bought some new things but we will get a refund on all that and ill keep his older outdated stuff (still better than what most people would have mind you). Got to listen to a few different speakers. Might get the B&W PM1 speakers which is what geoff was gonna get which are around 3-5k depending if i get the stands (sorry if anyone fell over) really nice speakers!

And finaly picked up the welder on the way home so i can get stuck back into that. Ill finish the steering collum and everything first then i can pack that away and get it out of the way cause the garage is a shambles at the momment.

stero system my uncle had.

Mum and dad were gonna sell it now he passed away but i said ill have it. The speakers he has now are B&W 808s which are massive and won't fit anywhere in the house (let alone my room) so i gotta get new ones. And with literaly everything including the headphones over $1000 (each/individualy))headphones where $1500) i wanted to buy a proper pair otherwise it would be pointless. And im not paying for them he was getting a new amp and a few other things and already paid 12k for it all so mum and dad as far as i know are sorting something out for me and ill just keep all his old stuff until i want/need to upgrade it.

But i don't want to see it sold, im into music and all that so i can keep it to remember him i guess you would say. Some may say its expensive and stupid but without a hobbie/interest life would be shitty.

http://www.bowers-wi...1/overview.html

so im getting these

http://www.hificlub....rket/B-W808.JPG

to replace these.

Big downsize but technology has come a long way and i got to listen to the speakers and everything and im happy with them.

the 808s weigh over 80kg i think so they should be fun to move.

Car:
Power is back on!

should be able to get things moving. Im out of fricken paint again though so thats a pain in the arse but anyways. Should hopefuly get the collumn done this week (allowing for paint to dry etc etc etc) and i put the bearing on my xmas list so hopefully i dont have to fork the 60 bucks for that anoying thing!

yea it was his thing in life. He has a shitload of records and cd's i gotta through as well. And try and learn how it all works and get into it a bit more. He has 1000 or so hifi magazines but they are basicly just product reviews and not much information for the novice like myself.

Still gotta figure out were its all going in my room might do a small reno but it would only cost me 100 bucks or so to rip out the wardrobe and move it then put the system in that space but anyways.

With that cover

DSC_2202_zps773de84b.jpg

(that cover^) would it be ok to do that with caliper paint? its a high temp paint and i have some left thats all (might not be enough for 2 coats im not sure)
