No the car is Lucky that it found me, any other person would not have taken it on unless your John Gong.

Anyway i think that we were upto Update #88

The car is available to be picked up from the 29th on wards.

There has been a few things happening over the last three months in the background, but just looking forward to getting the car back in my garage so i can plan the next steps to get the car finished.

until then stay tuned.

Regardless on who it is, if you have been waiting over 8 months for them to come and quote then move on and find someone else.

Great thread.... You could feel grants excitement in every update..... Like a kid living his dream....

Hopefully the issues you have currently with the panel shop get sorted and you get a positive result and get your car back....

I had a scenario like this pan out a few years ago with a different beater..... Quoted $15k ended up with a bill for $32k... I went to the nsw dept of fair trading and lodged a complaint which went to mediation in the first instance....

The beaters defence was that additional repairs were required to a quarter panel and cowl and these could not be seen until the car was completely stripped and I gave the go ahead to repair with a verbal estimate to repair those bits to b an additional $3-4k which th beater denied.... He said I just gave the go ahead to do the additional repairs and didnt quote a Figure.... Crap.....

My argument to the mediator was that as soon as the bill reached the quoted $19k work should have stopped.... I should have been called and it should have been my decision whether or not work should continue.... This did not happen.... When questioned the beater could not give a reason why this did not happen but his defence was that I never asked for a running total..... Derr I had a quote you idiot....

Anyway long story short - we agreed for me to pay the $19k plus an additional labour only cost of $4k After DFT mediator reviewed the beaters Job card..... The beater was crying (not literally) that he was losing money on this job.... Pffft

To say I learnt a lesson is an understatement....

Grant I hope you get a result you can live with

Cheers Al

update # 89 - Set up the Ice ignition, coil and booster

Just hope that there is not too much vibration, if so will have to put another "pin" or bolt through the bracket.

sort of worked really well, it's just a " post shoe bracket " for a 90x90 post

1 more mill

thanks Garry i cannot wait to see it either. I had to read your post a few times, it was pretty funny - u sure you don't work at a panel shop still?

Hi Grant,

Regards John.

yep John it's home under the garage.

spent the weekend building a hand winch and also cleaned out the rear of the car.

I had to re dress up a lot of the bare metal spot welds in side the car.

seam sealed inside the car where new parts were installed.

I also have secured a top notch painter to finish off the car.
