OK BRO's it's update # 102 - the little torrie threw a brake shoe !

dave - yep it's about right and i need to send this to them tomorrow

update

sorted the rares yellow plastic handbrake issues

sorted the brake booster - this was human error as you need a spacer behind the bracket  to put the booster on a different angle

put all the wiper arms and also wiper motor back

did the right hand side rear brake

found a new use for boogie boards

it's an old shitty grill not the right one, but could not help myself

Hi Grant,

Your handbrake cables go in first, not last,

You need a second person,to help slide the cables though to underneath of the car to the handbrake handle, you have to fit the rubber boots on the cables first, the dust boots are left and right mate, put on a bit of grease on the ends to help slide through the rubber dust boots, and have your nuts ready 7/16 to put on the handbrake handle inside of the car.I have put new handbrake cables on my car coupla months ago.

Regards John.

Grant, your fuel filler pipe is incorrect. The flange on the pipe sits behind the rear panel, inside the boot, not on the outside.

Love that wiper motor, so sexxxxxeeeeee.

Cheers

Dave.

Hi

See below. The gasket is critical, otherwise water will sit permanently behind the boot catch area (and cause a rust hole like the one I had).

Cheers

double bugger !

got the gasket but it's behind the filler - was wondering what was going on here as the screws were not working and also the tank connection rubber seemed to be short - will fix

John, read the manual and just threw them on last night, will re arrange now but the manual seemed to have the shoes shown like that.

nothing like doing a job twice ah ?

thanks gents, need all the training wheels i can get

Grant, John (Frash) is right about the brake shoes. Primary shoe has the shorter lining and always faces to the front of the vehicle.

Also as John said, get your h/brake cables installed as you need to connect them to the brake shoe actuating levers before you assemble the brakes.

ERRR now I'm missing the things as John has said and also Brad has shown.

when i pulled the brakes  off the old 4 door,  parts these were not there ?

I assume that they can operate without them ?

Hi Grant,

Yes they can operatate with out these mate, there only a automatic brake adjusters grant, that photo that you have put up is the os rear.I still have this set up in mine, god knows why did put them back in.

Your car would have had them too,but someone hasn't put them back into yours,my gtr had them, as the same as the xu-1.

Regarsd John.

Correct Brad, the self adjusters only work when the brakes are applied whilst the vehicle is traveling in reverse.

If the self adjusters are removed you have to adjust the brakes manually at regular intervals.

Drum brake self adjusters have nothing to do with the hand brake John. They work when the brake pedal is depressed and the self adjusters cannot or should not over adjust the brakes to the point they are locked. Generally three brake applications in reverse is enough.

It only works of the handbrake and not depressing the brake pedal,by pulling up the handbrake when reversing it adjusts them up.

Regards John.
