Pick up a remote filter at the same time, the ones that take normal filter(s) are reasonably cheap.
That way you have one fitting at the oil pump that you aren't pissing around with every time you need to change the filter. Sandwich plates tend to be more difficult to get screwed in and sealed properly with the hose fitting in the correct place!! There was no way the one I used to have was ever going to fit properly.
You want a decent cross-flow cooler, not one that has a single core snaking across the vanes.
Why do you think you need one? (Get the remote filter mount no matter what )

The thing at the front screws to the oil pump.
The filter(s) mount to the thing at the back which you bolt to the inner guard or someplace.
I used to use a twin filter mount similar to this scrounged from the LITRE8 parts bin.
As you can see, the filtermount has various orientations for running the oil lines and you just put the oil cooler in line with the filters.
Put it in after the filter, to prevent fillings and rubbish getting into the cooler core.

Personally I would avoid the remote mount and oil cooler unless it is the only way to solve a cooling or space problem. The hoses and fittings are expensive and there is more to go wrong.
I have a Canton billet remote oil filter kit that I bought for my LS2 ( 13/16-16 ) but have decided to go down another path. It cost A$380 plus freight from the US. I was advised to steer clear of cast aluminium adaptors as they have been known to crack. In my opinion the Canton hose fittings are not as good as the Speedflow fittings however the Speedflow fittings are around $50 each. I think the 308 oil pump is 13/16"-16 however you would need to confirm.
I will sell the above kit for $250.
