Looks like a Old Commer bus or Commer van like the one used in Mad Max 2 as the Main Gate at the Compound

Austin is writ upon the front.

I drove a Commer delivery van in the early 60's, and the Commer doesn't have such a "hip" line. Commer vans have a finer grille as well. Very similar to the one in the pic though.

I am half-heartedly on the lookout for a Commer actually. If one comes my way for the right price. But - like everything, they have gone through the roof price wise.

              regards,Rod

Catalina Park Raceway in Katoomba perhaps?  Depends where it was found. That might be a clue. Apart from that I dunno.

I test fitted a VN V6 and T5 into an auto series1 RX7 many years ago. Bugger me if just about everything didn't line up, even the gearstick was close to right. I remember doing the capacity sums at the time, and I needed a seriesIII as it weighed just enough to allow the 3.8L V6, and the SIII has much bigger brakes as in the USA it got a 13B. Always wondered how it would have gone. At the time the VN engines were a cheap proposition, but a modern all alloy engine would probably be better.

Those little Datsuns go all right with a couple of SU carbs hanging off them.

Don't see them much any more......all been turned into toyotas or tostas I presume.

cool an old water bottle.. had one of these and it went hard in a straight line but had shit brakes and hated going round corners at speed..i fitted a kawa 900 front end with dual brakes...I also owned a RE5 Suzuki.. it was powered by rotary motor.. wish I kept that as they are rare beasts back then and went harder than the water bottles did

I had one of those little 1200 datsun coupes (same colour too) a long time back.....   a mate and I gutted it and turned it into a drag car.   We space framed it and stuffed a 440ci big block Chrysler and an A833 4 speed cogger into it.   YeeHaaaa!!!   It was loads of fun but he bought my share of it a while later and eventually converted it to a speedway car.   Think he may still have it......

How ya been Craig?  Reckon I'm due for another visit if you have the time and I'm still welcome......

Geez,  I lust for that ESSO HR ute in the above pics too!!!
