yeh mate i have been on the back of a few bikes,,, i dont hate them they just make me feel depressed and i got over feeling sorry for myself years ago,,, i run into a biker dude in the sydney airport on a flight back to queensland about 8 years after my accident and this bloke was in a wheelchair,,, tattoo on one foot said IM TIED and on the other foot said ME TOO,,,so i took that and run with it from that day on.

cheers gong

Thats the way mate,

Positive attitude is the way to go,and the forum is lucky to have you and your knowledge.

Anyway i found the 2 stroke 3 cylinder  500s interesting ,i don,t think they would stop by the looks of the brakes,i think this is why people had many crashes in earlier days, things were very fast but that was all, crap handling and no brakes.

More cars to come soon !!

Then this is a 750 2 stroke, wonder what that would be like to ride,I've riden 250 2 stroke dirt bikes they were great fun.

That's such a shame to see that 900 Desmo neglected like that.

Craig,  Last year I did some restoration/repair/tuning work on one of those 6 cylinder CBX1300 Hondas.   Super smooth to ride, loads of torque and surprisingly nimble! .....just needed BOTH brakes AND the gears used as well to pull it up.   As you know Ducati brakes spoil you for everything else.

Some really collectable bikes there but of the ones pictured the Yamaha RZ500 is the most desireable for me.  Most  bike accidents are not the fault of the bike!!! The machine is rarely to blame........ it only does what the pilot instructs it too.  Not wearing proper safety gear naturally makes the outcome worse.

The GT750 2 stroke was pretty bland in its stock form but with porting and expansion chambers it transformed them into a highly strung, frantic beast when they came into the power band.   Imagine the band of two KX500's hitting simultaneously and you have the idea.... a lot of drag strip records fell to those engines back in the day.

That red KH500 is the duck's guts, got just the right balance of stock v modified for my liking. Looks like it was a nice turnout, only wish our local clubs had as many members with such fine machinery. I've got a few old Hondas, a CT90, SL125, CB125, late 70s CB250 and CB400 twins , CB250RS, and a few more in bits. One good thing about them is they don't take up that much space  :D

Those Kwaka 500 tripples were also nicknamed the widow maker yeah I owned one for a while went like a shower of shit but the handling was attrocious, Many times just jump on pissed and ride home from the pub.

And then I owned this a little bit more sedate, but it being pommy I had to push it far too often.

The unreliability of Brit stuff puts me off them a bit, well that and the price of then now, nevertheless I'd still like an A65 one day. What the Jap bikes lose in soul they make up for in reliability.

Thanks for the extra pictures, :D

I had an old Ducati sd900 after the lethal GSXR,was much slower and never got out of shape.the gsxr  had no steering dampener ,one day going down the hawksbury bridge road in sydney,i was going through a slight sweeper at 200kmh plus and got the worst head shake, scared the hell out of me,the next model had a steering dampener and longer swing arm.

I never learnt from the experience and crashed it twice,my first bike that i had L plates on was a Katana 1100 ,that was a great machine, never spat me off. Actually i kept renewing my L plates for years, they were separate licences,no points lost off car blacks, just pay fine, and there were many.

Best one was i,m riding along at Northmead and realised i left my wallet back at Parramatta,so i pull up with indicator on,next thing Highway patrol skids up like a nut case, and they jump out and are going crazy.I,m thinking WTF,one cop was going nuts saying they saw me at Parramatta and noticed tail light not working,so they tried to catch me to tell me,but i was riding like a dickhead  and suburbs later here we are.I didn,t even know you were chasing me,i always ride like that.Which made the red head cop even madder, where is your licence?well i was stopped to go back and get it,were,s your L plate?I don,t know. What size bike are you riding?stiff shit i can ride anything and so it went on,i thought it was great, just pay the fine, bye.Years later they cottoned on.

Sadly John it's what Craig mentioned these "factory & non factory" fitted heaters are reasonably hard to find in good condition, The Smiths beehive heater had a fair bit of Bakelite (first form of plastic) on surround,  similar with ^^above^^ unit and after it's heated, cooled, heated, cooled a hundred times becomes very brittle and fell apart whilst fitted in some cases, Best bet is fleBay as good units do come up for sale, But as usual expect to fork out the coin, I recently saw an original HR heater knob go for over $200......
