If it isn't a 73 or 72 LJ then it has to be an LC.
You were way off Dave. Gene is closer but needs to qualify. Look at what has been stated, and think. Good exercise for the brain!

Well, I did originally say early 72 build. So I was partially correct just the wrong end of the year. lol

And you said 1972 model, which finishes at the end of August 1972!

haha. Getting a bit overly technical there Byron? In the eyes of the motoring public a car built in 1972 is a 1972 model.
The model year change over on the 1st Sept each year was a GMH internal operations thing only.

The photo's show LJ body, The fan is notched = a 150 engine , np replaced for JP block, oil cooler = raced or rallied.
And wheels look like they might be self locators.
So is there a known race or rally car in that green colour?

LKW-111?
Previous HDT rally cars were silver, if this is from late '72, then it isn't one of the earlier silver ones, so could it be LKW-111 which was rumoured to be alive in NSW somewhere?

Not really. Cars today are well recognised by their model year (as in MY12 etc), Redbook are all over it. GMH product of the day was normally recognised by either a change in series (eg HQ to HJ) or a major change in ADR (eg LX changing from ADR27 to ADR27A) or sometimes but to a lesser extent by model year change. An 11/72 complianced XU1 is a 1973 model and in its day if it was a stock order it could have been sold in 1973 as a current model (this one is an ordered vehicle as it was sold the month it was completed). Whereas a 7th or 8th month 1972 complianced car would be the prior year's model in early 1973. Conversely where a series change occurred at model year change anything built in the early part of volume production would be sold as a current model so HJ's produced in 9/74 would still be current product in 1975, not sure how they'd treat late 8/74 HJ's if any were left into 1975, maybe turned into demos.

Byron , my 11/72 adr is ALJ with 16 adr numbers , 1973 BLJ has 22 adr numbers .

My 2004 VZ (which I purchased in late March 2005) was built in November, so as far as GMH internal operations is concerned it is a MY05 vehicle, however, the Dealer's salesman only ever referred to it as a 2004 model. Probably because it has 2004 on the compliance plate.

Common for this to happen. I looked at Hiluxes recently, 12/13 Assembly, 01/14 Compliance. They were selling them as 2013 build with a Toyota discount, but were still advertised as 2014 models. They were $5000 cheaper than a 1/14 assembly, 2/14 compliance. Pretty silly huh when they are identical!

I think this is an ALJ with 16. BLJ started at the start of '73 or was it during 12/72? I don't have enough HQ's recorded to nail the ADR change to a month or mid month timeframe, I just have the CHQ to DHQ change Dec-Jan compliance. Torana and Holden didn't have an ADR revision at '72-'73 model year change though, but in other years it did happen at or close eg HQ-HJ series change, HX-HX series change
