Hi guys, can anyone tell me if theres a difference between the HK-T-G
front K frame/crossmember.
Is there a V8 and 6 cylinder crossmember?
If there is, i will get a pic to help figure out what i have, did have a 186 in it originally

Thanks

Ok, so there is no physical difference through-out the models, besides the option of disc brakes. mine has original disc brake which im changing to HQ at the moment.
whats the difference in the front springs?

for the brake swap, you dont need to swap stub axles left to right do u?

Cheers

What he said^^^.

HK front crossmember has the threaded metal shaft and bush type upper and lower inner control arm pivots as used in earlier model Holdens.
HT- HG front crossmember has the rubber bush type upper and lower inner control arm pivots.

The upper and lower control arms from a HK cannot be used on a HT - HG and vise versa.

AFAIK sometime during the HG model run the disc brake stub axles were superseded to a new stub axle that then carried over to the HQ model, but I don't know what the difference between the two types was.

I'm pretty sure that the brake booster is different on the 6's and V8"s , I'm about 90% sure of this but get a second opinion.

still using the stub axles, was told to use the original stub axles and steering arms with HQ bearings and discs, and use HZ calipers.

sound right?
calipers, discs will be for sale once i get the rest sorted.

anyone confirm the booster difference?
HT and G have different tie rod ends to the HK aswell

There are 3 x crossmembers in these:

HK
Early HT (which uses HK geometry).
HT-HG (revised geometry with upper control arms raised).

HK-mid HX stubs are the same, just swap side to side and use HQ PBR calipers, and new HQ-WB rotors. Bearings are the same all through. You can use later calipers if you like but use later stubs (they are a differnt part number but from memory they are interchangeable).

All HK-HG brake boosters are the same regardless of engine, for the same brakes (remember early HK had a different type of pushrod though). 4 wheel boosted drums used a smaller booster, and front discs used the bigger booster (regardless of engine - same as HQ-HZ), this often confuses people where they put 2 and 2 together and get 5, ie think the smaller booster is 6cyl because it was on a 6cyl car with 4 wheel drums.

if the hK and HQ stubs are the same, does that mean I can use HK disc rotors on the hq stubs axles and what calipers do I have run ??? and to put them on a HR do I bolt them up normally or swap sides ? Posted Image sorry about the hijack.

HK rotors on HQ stubs use HK calipers. You'd be better off using HG rotors (or HT GTS350 manual - same) and calipers as they are thicker. Dunno about HR's.

these are my stub axle numbers
32153-left
32154-right
steering arm numbers
7432199-left
7432200-right

at home right now i have new HQ front discs, bearings and seals. also have a pair of rebuilt PBR calipers(P/N 1342 and 1343)(not sure which HQ,Z,X,WB model had the PBR's)

is this the right stuff to use?
Will the original disc brake stubs and steering arms work with those discs and calipers?
do i need to swap steering arms left to right?
Hope you can help, thanks heaps

mate carn,t help you with the numbers ,but yel327 can,

when i did my hk monaro 23 years ago, which i still have, i used complete wb stubs with brakes,i had never seen it done before,so i was thinking this may work ,so i removed the hk set up and used the left to right theory and it all fitted up great,i thought the wheel allignment must be messed up so i took it to the alignment centre, and nothing needed adjusting,i thought it was brilliant.

the brakes actually worked, which i was happy about ,as the solid hk disc,s use to glow red and pull all over the road a high speeds.

I'll try and get to it tonight. I can't help you with HR though, only HK-WB.

if your using the hg stub axles, just slip on your rotors and bolt up your calipers.

the only reason i swaped left to right was they were wb stubs, and the steering arms are behind in a hk,t,g, and in front on a hq,wb.

all you have to do, is bolt it up to your steering arms,to fit the stubs.
