The fact they are the original plates fitted to the car back in 1974 was one the the appealing factors when i bought the car, so they will stay on the car in the condition they're in. I don't like the look of new plates on old cars, i think the old plates suit the car.

Yep, fair call. Like I said, I like the look. The narrow new plates on the standard rear number plate flap can look ordinary, though I've seen some good fixes for that, too.

Lovin this build but I think you failed on the original looking engine! :P

What's with the big chromey strip in the nose cone on the bottom lip of the opening, under where the front bar would sit? Is that factory? I've never noticed anything like that before???

It's easy to tell members that are old skool in times like this too, ey? Those that are willing to step up and help out where and when they can!

Credit to all involved!

Yeah i failed dismally with the engine but apart from the braided line, Holley carb & K&N filter, it almost looks as it might've had LH V8s got the VN style heads back in 1974. I love originality but i'm a power freak too, as such i was willing to stray a little here & there :) .The silver paint out under the front bar was standard on LH scab packs & SLs too, on all colours. Over the years when these cars had repairs, touch ups etc, most people didn't bother with repainting it, but i did on this car & my orchid LH which is an SL model. I'm very lucky to know all the people who helped me out with this car, it certainly wouldn't be where it's at now without them. They all know who they are & i think they know i'll be their for them if ever needed.

Already have when it was still the faded rusty silver colour with a blue bonnet, on it's fourth pass it ran a 12.5 at 109mph on 205x65x15 street tyres. Soon after it's completed, i'll be heading back out to WSID with some radial slick tyres & trying for an 11 sec pass.

Ya learn something new every day!

I guess I'm lucky I painted mine silver then... got the factory paint out for no extra cost.

Cheers mate, nearly time to enjoy the fruits of your labour, keep it up! :spoton:

Got a little more done today, fitted the recoed bumpers. Out of all the LH-LX Toranas i've owned, this is the first to have the rubber less bumpers, i really like the look of them on this car.

Thanks for the input Rob & Brad, yeah that's the part i'm after. I emailed the seller last night. I used the original plastic sleeves to fit the bootlid/apron panel badges, i know from experience how hard they are to find so i went to great pains to keep them intact when i pulled the car apart. If i wasn't able to save them i would've used a small amount of sikaflex in the holes.

After a few hiccups along the way, the orange Torana is almost complete, only needing a few small trims etc to finish off. Thought some pics of it side by side with it's stable mate would look cool.

Yeah the filter out of the bonnet does worry me, especialy after watching ACA the other night. I have another bonnet i will cut & fit a scoop to, i think i have just enough paint left over to paint it.

Cool. A mini camaro reverse cowl would look sweet with the LH front end i reckon.

Yeah a Camaro/A9X style scoop would look good, unfortunately it'll probably get a Hornet as i already have one sitting in the shed. No problems deciding which one to take for a drive, the mrs drives the pink one (her car now, part of the deal with me buying/building the orange one) while i drive the orange one. Might take them both to Harry's Cafe tomorrow night, still worried about the BS crack down the cops are having on modified cars at the moment so not sure yet. Wish they'd go & catch some real crooks instead of picking on easy targets like us.
