looking good Matt to me it has that "old school " look and i like it :clappin:, can see you have done you signiture tail pipe set up too :D are you running Commodore pattern on this LH aswell ?? i dont mean to be picky but is the hole in the bonnet a little larger on the drivers side ??
Also did you manage to get a factory horn relay ??

Hi Lee, this car has HQ stud pattern, had to run the Commie stockies as the brakes i'm running require minimum 15" rims. Haven't found a relay yet, still looking. How's your project coming along?

No probs mate, i thought with the amount of people who follow your path with custom smoothed engine bays there would be an abundence of these relays floating around. My number is still the same to. With the skills you've shown, i have no doubt you'll be able to rectify the battery/VIN tray issues with your car.

i just took a pic of it and its sending now to your mobile im almost certain this is the one your looking for :D if it is the right one txt your address again and ill get it i the post tomorrow for ya. lol you would think there would be heaps floating around but i think most just rip everything out and chuck it not thinking what they might need ( yep im guilty )

i used 0.9 on the trays where i think i should have used 1.6 oh well really just another days work cutting them out and welding in new ones, really only a minor set back

After all the hassles on sunday, it looks like i'll need to re-do the brakes, wrong master cylinder means the brakes are locked on (shallow bore master cylinder, long pushrod). Oh yeah, fuel pump is cactus too, leaking fuel/oil out of the relief hole on the pump body. Starting to think this car isn't mean't to race this saturday. Pity though, it does sound good

Thanks mate, ordering another master tomorrow, hopefully i'll get it by friday. I was all set to get the tailshaft today until i couldn't resist the temptation to fire up the engine when i got home from work. That's when i found some problems which kind of threw a spanner in the works to coin a phrase. Will keep you in the loop.

Very very very nice metal finish on that, impressive to watch and looking forward to seeing some colour. Do we have an ETA on when your painter is happy to spray?

Thanks mate, your car came up a treat too. Very impressive  To be honest there is some filler in this car but a bare minimum, i barely used one tin to do the whole car & alot of that went on the floor :) I metal finish to the stage where one skim of filler is enough to get the panel straight & ripple free, occasionally a second skim with fine filler to sort out any pin holes etc. No pics of the filler work though because i usually apply the primers straight away to seal the repairs

Hi Garth, Happy New Year to you :D . Glad you like the car, this has proved a real challenge for me, bare metal repaint & colour change in just on a month. Phew i'm buggered!! She's no top 10 show car but she'll be a neat street car & i'm honing my priming/painting skills for finishing my SL/R off this year. Cheers Matt

Hi Rob, this car might be going to the fest, more than likely you'll see it at the next drag day though. I wasn't too sure about my colour choice but seeing it on the car i like it now. This colour, for those who haven't picked it, is saffron. It only came out on 1974 LHs HQs etc & what i liked most about it is it is rather uncommon & has a very fine metallic in it that sparkles in the sun light. Will get back to you re the ashtray, this car being a scab pack has the black dash so i'll leave it with it's TORANA ashtray for now. Hope to catch up soon.

what wheels are we using?the stars or gts,front/rear spoilers?
and saffron would be in keeping with the orchid i suppose.good choices some not so common colours.even the silver is not seen much had you have left it.
you should have done it in chamios lol.

LOL, Chamois was the factory colour on my Orchid car, the mrs stopped it being re-painted that colour. I want to run the GTS rims but i need to get 15x6s made for the front so they clear the guards, so for now it'll be running the Weld Pro Stars. No spoilers for this car, she's being built on a tight budget that didn't allow for any spoilers or flares. Even the wheels are loan me's until i can afford to get the GTS ones made.
