Thanks guys.

The bead roller I have is a Woodward Fab unit from Summit.

The pins I use are called cleco pins. They are like a reusable mechanical rivet. Very handy for things like this.

Thanks mate, yeah never been in so much pain in my life. Out of prison on Monday, all i want to do is work some metal :surrenderwave:

O Dirtbagio, Dirtbagio, wherefore art thou Dirtbagio?
Deny thy updates and refuse thy pleeds;

'Tis but thy name rust that is my enemy:
Thou art thyself, though not a Monaro.
What's Monaro? It is nor hand nor foot,
Nor arm nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call dirt
By any other word would smell as sweet;
So Dirtbagio would, were he not Dirtbagio call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Dirtbagio, doff thy name,
and for thy name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myrust.

Err, yeah after that it just got weird. Sooooo bored. UPDATES

Nice mod! That would be very handy.

Well I spent today on the old Monaro.

I thought I'd have a look at the lower part of the inner rear guard.

The lower corner was made totally with fibreglass bog. I dug the wire wheel into it and bottomed it out before I struck metal. It's a 5 inch grinder too!!

Posted Image

After a bit of digging I found a little bit of metal, but not much.

Posted Image

Then I thought I'd have a look at the base of the spare wheel well.

This top on shot shows where I'd started wire wheeling. The whole thing is covered in fibreglass.

Posted Image

After a lot of prying and swearing I managed to get the fibreglass to come away from the metal. Nice,

Posted Image

This is the awesome repair work that was underneath.

Posted Image

I was able to snap the lower corner of the guard off with my bare hand. Good repair boys : )

Posted Image

Here's most of the spare wheel well removed.

Posted Image

Here's the two pieces of spare wheel well. The bodgy metal bit and the fibreglass bit. This amuses me greatly : )

Posted Image

I then made a new lower corner. I had to start somewhere, so here seemed a good place.

Posted Image

Then I started making the new spare wheel well. Here's the first bits fitted.

Posted Image

The main part of the wheel well started out as a flat sheet with a fold down each side.

Posted Image

I then used the shrinker to pull the sides in. Here's one side started.

Posted Image

And here's the other side after one pass through the shrinker. It needs to get more of a curve in it than this.

Posted Image

Here it is tacked in.

It certainly doesn't look much but that's all I got done today.

Nice fab of the replacement, was more work on the strinker all that was required to get the desired shape?

Cheers

Hey Dirtbag, did you use a shrinker for the quarter panel or just english wheel or both??I would have to do the same with our Pontiac.

Haha, some of the old repair jobs you see on this forum are classic!! The effort some people go to when making these dodgy repair almost seems like the same amount to do it properly. Great work Dirtbag! Loving this thread.
