Just remember to keep an eye out for the tyres load rating. It must be equal to or greater than the minimum load rating on the tyre placard. This applies to cars built after 1/1/1971.

Before I order them though, what is the minimum load rating on the tyre placard for a 73 LJ Torana? - Does it say on my car somewhere?

Also, will I have any trouble getting the Roadworthy and taking it to Vic Roads, will they care that I am running 205/60/r13s, and they are slightly different to the original tyres?

Cheers

On the LJ the tyre placard won't list a load rating. What it will list is the maximum load in pounds or KG next to the various tyre options on the placard. Most of them will be around 1150 pounds or 500 KG. The replacement tyres only need to be rated above the lowest rated tyre on the placard. The 205/60R13 should be well over the minimum required. Vic Roads will be fine with that size. Speed ratings on tyres are irrelevant these days. The tyres only need to be rated to the maximum legal speed in the state in which the vehicle is registered.

has anyone used avon cr500 205/55 on the road?
was wondering what sort of life you could expect?
how do they go in the wet?

How much are they? They look like a good all-rounder with the groove around the middle.

I ended up going with the Falken ZE912's, the were the best ones for me that I came across...

Ben from Antique Tyres said he didn't have anything atm, but they are planning on making a new 13 inch tyre available in the next year in some of the sizes that are unavailable or hard to get.

Cheers guys, hope those looking for tyres for their 13 inch rims get what they are after...

After finding out which company now owns Falken Tire and the changes they have made, I now only reccomend Yokohama.

Yeah, all good and well but apparently Yokohama don't make 205/60/13 tyres anymore so looks like the majority of premium tyre manufacturers don't give a s#@t about us anymore.

At the place I work, the top 3 selling sizes are:

#1 205/65R15

#2 235/45R17

#3 235/40R18

Less than 1% of all tyre sales are for 13" tyres. Most of those are 175/70R13.

Who would be stupid enough to make a product that doesn't sell?
