Came accross these on streetcommodores

http://www.velocitya...=TUFFMOUNTHQLS1

Just wondering if anyone has used them? How did they go for header clearance and what headers did you use and also what sump?

I'm then hoping if i can sort that out, that they make a TH400 mount by then

I brought some last week, il let you know how I go. I'm hoping they work really well because they cost a fair bit more than the std rubber mounts. I'm using a camaro sump so I mite run into trouble.

you have no chance if the LS1 is carby

and make sure you do the floor cut properly fir the t56 (dont touch the firewall at all - find dirtbag's brother's hatch build)

then any engineer should be pretty happy

i ended up getting the loom from sideshow like another memeber did as the bloke from injectedholdens.com went MIA

You have to meet the emission standards of the donor vehicle, for the LS1 that basically means factory EFI and Cats. The Perth Technical section will not even consider giving you approval in principal to run a carby.

If you run an aftermarket EFI system then you have to pass an emissions test. The emission testing is expensive and difficult to pass with EFI.

Ring the Perth Technical section on 9216 3880 and they will tell you what you have to do. You will need to fill in a light vehicle modification application.

If you want to keep it simple and run a carby then the small block Chev is a far easier option.

There are electronic conversion boxes available that will drive a cable drive speedo from an electronic speedo pulse.

The wiring mob i am using can do kits to keep use of the torana cluster

I am going to go down this path if i come accross a non-crackprice slr/ss cluster

http://www.sideshows...ewiring.com.au/

I haven't got my loom yet so i can't comment on quality but i only heard of them because of a fellow member

He said if i hide the wiring by hvaing the entrance near the heater pipes or something, they can mod the loom to suit, so i will be test fitting the loom on the weekend to find the best place to go through the firewall

Also other custom stuff like fan/fuel pump setups, diagnostic ports ra ra

Give Justin a ring

Ok to easy cheers fellas but I have already purchased the t56 box an ls1 which has done approx 90 000 would love to run a carby setup but don't want to waste more time an money in selling the ls1 an buying something else if it's not that difficult or pricey I might just stick with efi ls1 an make a good looking one haha

I wish i went Carby Chev sometimes (price wise)

But i know it will all be worth it in a couple of months, got 8.5k left out of 25k with all the crappy little things left to do

Persevere with the manual! be different!

Oh, for the speedo issue mentioned.... I use a conversion box, uses the pulse signal from the computer/T56 and runs a mechanical speedo cable for my factory speedometer.

Works perfectly and is tuneable for any combo basically. (I've checked my speedo against my GPS at 3 different speeds and I have it within 1 kilometer across the board pretty much)

The extension housing on the Commodore T56 is not the best choice for the Torana transmission tunnel. It can be fitted but you have to cut out the cross member. I would get approval from an engineer before cutting the crossmember.

Pictures from this thread.

There is a shorter extension housing fits without cutting through the cross member. Mal Wood was charging $2290 to convert the Commodore T56 to the shorter housing. I think the Mal wood housing also has both mechanical and electronic speedo outputs. A friend of mine has a hatch with a L98 and the Mal Wood modified T56. The tunnel still needed to be cut but the crossmember dis not require cutting.

If you send the New TUET 6000 to me we can set it up to suit your Torana, so what we do is strip the T56 and replace the shift rail, shift block, speedo gear, rear case, shifter etc and this cost will be $1850 for the parts and
$440 labour, the gearstick will now go through the correct place in the floor.

Or alternatively you can just sell your existing T56 and purchase our Road/Race T56 already set up to fit the Torana for $5990.

The ratios of the standard Tuet 6000 are 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.74,.50 and the MWA Road/Race has ratios of 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.80,.63.

You will also require our underdash clutch unit @ $690, Braided line @ $160, Braided Remote bleed @ $145, New mount @ $45, New crossmember @ $195, New speedo cable @ $78, New speedo angle drive @ $125, New slip yoke @ $115

There are pictures in this thread of the Mal Wood T56 behind a 308. The car is owned by antelopeslr5000 .

Hey cheers what bout fitting heater box an hoses??

I used an aftermarket a/c and heater unit (fit up really nicely under the dash) and I ran my heater hoses under my intake and through the firewall with AN bulkhead fittings. The hoses are nearly all hidden basically....

I used an F body (Camaro/Trans-Am) T56 with mine (I just pulled a complete LS1/T56 out of a 2000 Camaro SS basically) and did have to trim the crossmember a little bit, but it's not bad and after plating it in, I am sure it's quite strong. (no idea on legalities of different swaps there though)

I am using a stock console with mine, and have the shifter coming through in the factory location as well. You can check in my build thread in the members projects if you wanted, there are a heap of pictures there.
