Minutes after posting that the same vid came onto the news.

One good thing came from this, the person who recorded that and his mrs just made a lot of money.

As i said in the Rockhampton floods thread, the Rocky floods was a whole heap of hooraah, media hype, and not that bad. The only people affected were idiots who purchased houses in a flood area, which a little bit of research could have prevented.

THIS SHIT in Toowoomba and other areas is frOckING SERIOUS!!

All the best to all involved.

cheers.

just terrible to watch, at least here we had lots of warning and I believe little damage as water was slow moving

I've experienced many floods in my time, living on the Murrumbidgee River as a kid, but honestly this was something beyond just a flood. I was in Dent St (Toowoomba CBD) 10 mins before the flash flood hit. Plenty of water on the streets but absolutely no indication what was about to happen.

Not having that warning is what ultimately cost people their lives. Other floods I've experienced, we at least had time to prepare for what was coming and evacuate if need be.

In my opinion, It's going to be a lot worse in Brisbane than what the authorities are predicting. The volume of water coming down from the Lockyer Valley is just unbelievable.

My property in Tandur just south of Gympie has Six mile creek on one boundary........ It flows about 30m from the house. I've been trying to get in contact with my caretaker but no luck so far. Good chance that Six Mile will back up and overflow in the next day or so...........

bloody amazing amount of water... did you see the white rav4 in the middle of it with the family on the roof... did they end up saving them or just flying around in their chopper taking video ?

Apparently floodwaters heading into brisbane for wednesday with a high tide.... Wonder what the maximum capacity of Wivenhoe is, considering its already at 140%..

the news chopper didn't have any rescue gear so went and got rescue chopper but lost sight of Rav4 and helped rescue chopper try to relocate it ... un-successfully.

tragic to watch can anyone answer a question for me, why did they have to leave the scene were they not able to raise emergency services by radio or phone????very sad.

When we had the flooding up our way, the density of the raincloud knocked out ALL mobile signals.
Fortunately the landlines still worked in some places.

Then... there was no electricity to recharge the mobiles.

My link

Jordan Rice is a hero who should never be forgotten. Hopefully they place a memorial at the traffic island where he and his mother were lost.
One of our family members was visiting their home having a chat with his dad and they didn't know anything was awry.........

My cousin and her family have lost their home in Ipswich but all are okay. If anyone local has things like shoes/boots and socks etc, drop em off somewhere. It is one of the most needed items of clothing.

Thanks to the rescue workers who got Kelly's cousins husband off the roof in Withcott (who lost the servo mentioned up top^^). his wife was very distraught until he was able to get home at midnight, as she didn't know where he was.

Grant..

Gotta agree whole heartedly there Rob. Despite what I normally think of her she has shown true leadership over the past couple of days.

Don’t we vote this year? I think Nana Bligh is looking for some votes.

Campbell Newman (Brisbane Lord Mayor) is the one that is on the ball. Very informative and knows what needs to be done with out the B/S.

Kevin Rudd last night was way over the top, he looked like he was going to cry. Super spin doctor.
