Great stuff Trent and Uncle Festa, will update soon. Thanks for the input, this will hopefully become a great source of quality engine builders for everyone to use. Get these good companies names out to benefit us and them!

I used Bob Campbell in Perth, but I believe old Bob isn't what he used to be.
Also Chevpower in Perth do quite a few engines for drag cars, burnout cars, speedway & street. Seem to be good value for money.

Ingrams Automotive

Address:
75 Dobney Avenue,
Wagga Wagga, 2650
Ph (02) 6925 1911

Had my 308 engine built there 18 years ago. It is still as strong & reliable as the day it was built. Highly recommended.

It's fantastic to see all the replies ! Let's make sure we keep the recommedations to builders who don't charge 6 million bucks for a piston n 3 million for a ring ect ect.. I think yas get ma drift. You get what u pay for I understand that but some places should be wearing balaclavas n holding a gun when they give you a price... Lol

I have just starting out looking for an engine bulder. I have rung a few and all seem very helpful.

I came across an engine shop in Dandenong, Vic called the 308 engine shop. They have quoted me a very good price for a 355 and will run it on their dyno.

has anyone used this shop as they are not one that has been put forward so far.

I know that every engine built will be different with parts used, thus various HP figures quoted
but
What would be the more popular(better) brands to use for say Cams, bearings, lifters, springs, crank, pistons etc etc..

Also
What would the average cost be $2000,3000-$7000,8000, is this based on HP,experience, parts used etc

Hi all.....heres a few more South Aussie Engine Builders to add to our rather small selection so far......

Walkom Performance Engines........(Craig Walkom)....details to follow
Baines Race Engines.........(Dave Baines)........details to follow

I know that Dave Baines builds alot of Sprint Car Engines these days but will build anything outside of that!!

Just remembered another good place.......Krieg Engine Reconditioning (Adelaide Hills)

Hope this helps
Cheers.......stretch

Heads: (Usually sold complete minus rockers) Air Flow Research are the business.
Cams: Crane or Crow are good brands.
Bearings: Clevite
Rockers: Crane
Lifters: Crower
Springs: Usually in the heads you buy, but if you need to get new ones, Crane.
Crank, Pistons and rods: Scat or COME.
Manifolds: Edelbrock or Harrop
Harmonic Balancers: Romac
Carby: Demon, Barry Grant etc
Studs: ARP

Depends on whether you want the best bits money can buy for ultra reliability or high power applications. It's the norm to expect $8,500-$15,000 for an engine between 450 and 650 HP.

Thanks for all the add ons guys. Good stuff.
