Hey guys in reguards to press's what size would I need in order to do all sorts of suspension bushes?

Supercheap have a 6tonne press which has enough room to fit control arms which I think are the biggest things id ever be doing?? Anyone else think of something you would commonly use it for?

But is 6 Tonne enough? next ones up are 12tonne or 18tonne but is $80 for the 6Tonne vs $300+

my press is a 20 ton, cost $300, it does balljoints and bushes with ease

a 6 ton should be ok, doing balljoints doesn't take that much force

i found the hardest thing to press out is the eyelet bushes at the front of the leaf springs, they take some bloody force to move!

It seems pretty rigid, has thick U sections as the frame

Don't use cast iron bases

I'd go the 20T myself

Range Ford comes and borrows ours at work cause their 20T won't do what our 40T will

I have a really cheap 12T one (12T is the bottle jack rating, other than that the frame is probably about as cheap as they get), and it does control arm bushes and ball joints etc fine. Its not exactly a precision instrument though, some of the parts are welded together a bit crooked and whatnot, but not really a big deal. I broke both of the 1" or so thick cast plates in half doing something dodgy but other than that it does all I need.

Nothing all that interesting just overloading the thing trying to make tight bends in a large diameter sway bar. Got to remember that the bottle jack is rated to lift 12T safely so its not going to collapse at 12.01T, I suspect the limit is somewhat higher than that...

I have a supercheap 6 ton press and it works good for ball joints and bushes, did all mine with it.

I find most bushes are easily changed with some home made tools with tick washers, booker rod or long bolts and some thick wall pipe, same as the tool supplied with nolathane bushes.

Yes this is the way I did mine last week fitting Superpro bushes. The 6 ton press would not handle the Moog ball joints, had to go use a double action press.

If it's what I think it is it has 2 handles each pumping 2 different sized pistons.
1 handle has a large piston which displaces more for fast pressing of looser fits and the other a smaller piston which gives more pressure for tighter stuff but slower to use (more pumps per length of movement).
Both acting on the same size ram.
