The stiching spilt on one side and I have not got around to getting another cover for it...old one is kinda worn as it is.
Needs a few things on the interior for sure....but I just keep working away at things on it. At least it's usable as-is. :)

Mine's also split but on the top face, haven't thought of elec. tape for a fix though, may have to before the splits get too wide.

Took the car for a drive to the cruise night tonight....and I really like the seats ! Nice and comfy and supportive as well.

All though, I think I might raise the rear of the driver side up just a tad (maybe try a half inch and see what it feels like.) Wasn't super bad or like sitting in a hole, just felt like a fraction higher might be a little better...

Well....finally got to play with something I have had in mind for a little while with the car.

The brake rotors I used (360mm x 36mm) are for a Mercedes AMG normally (E55, CL55, etc..) and the factory caliper for them are an 8 piston Brembo piece. When I did mine I had come across a deal I couldn't resist on some brand new 4 piston Brembos (as used on SRT8 Challangers actually) and didn't feel like spending the money to buy the Mercedes/AMG/Brembo piece.

Well...fast forward until now and I was thinking about them again and before I thought too much, I figured if the big calipers would not clear my wheels it wouldn't really matter as I am really happy with the look of the wheels I built for the car.

I was talking to a buddy of mine who works at a huge Mercedes dealer (and helped me with going through a bunch of rotor dimensions when I was sorting out my setup) and he just so happened to have a spare caliper around. Sooooooooo....I had him box it up and send it over. And it turned up today :D

And yep...I am sure it is over kill, ha ha....but nothing wrong with overkill in my book ;)

I just wedged a little bit of cardboard where the brake pads would go to hold it in place for the moment...have a look !

Makes my 4 piston Brembos look small in comparison, and they are pretty big as it is ! Ha ha... (they are just mocked up where they are sitting of course since I didn't feel like taking off the calipers I am using at the moment.)

And the important part of things....Yes it does look like they will clear my wheels. I will make a more accurate setup to hold them in place before deciding for sure (have a few other things to do this afternoon so it'll wait until tomorrow) but if they will work, I am going to drop the hammer on a pair of them I think.
I'll be starting to load containers again in a couple of weeks so won't have time to play around with it now really but will be something to get working on soon as I get time again.

Looks like making the mounting bracket should not be too big a drama either (as I made the ones for the existing calipers as it is)

Sure looks the part, and guess it will slow the Torana down from any speed, over and over and over again pretty well !

Well....the "little" calipers won't be staying if the bigger ones are going to clear everything, ha ha...

(all though there is a new model Mercedes with twin calipers, my buddy at the dealership had just priced the setup for a customer actually...around $13,000 or so from memory)

Caliper update :D aka...a story of how lucky I am...ha ha...

I had my spare 4 piston caliper (exact same as what is on the car now) laying down along side the big caliper to take a picture..

Posted Image

And I just was noticing how similar the mounting points for the 2 calipers did look, spacing wise and all..

So I measured them both up and it looked like the bolt spacing was the same between the two of them, and even the spacing from the mounting points to the outside edge and inside areas looked the same too. They are both Brembos after all, but still wouldn't have thought they would have been that similar.

I decided what the heck...I'll pull a caliper off the car to see how it actually lined up to my mounting bracket. I left the caliper connected (didn't feel like bleeding it again) so just tied it back out of the way and held the big caliper into place. The caliper mounting bolts started by fingers nice and easy :) and just nipped one of them up to just see how things looked..

And bingo, perfect fit !!! How cool is that? So a couple minutes and I can swap from 4 piston to 8 piston calipers. Heck....even the brake hoses will work again. I'll be looking now for a pair of these calipers for sure..my mate I borrowed this one from can get me wholesale pricing on new ones from the Mercedes dealer he works at, but going to see what I can do about finding some used ones from a mercedes wrecker perhaps as well to save a few bucks.

Oh, and I did then fit check a wheel on. And no worries at all..perfect fit and have room for everything. Only place it is a little close is to the lower control arm on lock when turning it is going to look like, but think I will be ok there as well.

So there you go....without knowing it when I built the caliper mounts, they will work with either caliper when used with the S55 or SL55 rotors as I have.

Oh, and just for comparison...here is the AMG caliper along side a spare LX subframe I have out back, ha ha..not too bad an upgrade from how the car was originally...

Nice Jeff

And because the disc is so large it moves the caliper right out of the way of most of the suspension

Paint them red though.. .and remove the AMG logo

I agree with DATTO though, drop the AMG and just paint them Red!
