I don't know what I am more jealous of... Driving a Torana in the USA or In n Out for lunch. The perfect combination if you ask me.
Thanks !
Kind of spoiled around here, with In & Out's all over the place really..

Your brembo/amg brake package looks awesome jeff, they should make your eyes bulge when you press whoa. I'm green with envy.
Thanks ! They really came out good I think, glad I went to the trouble of playing around with them all.

I understand that your wheels were a once off production but do you have any specs on them ie offset ect as I've put together the same brake package and i am Chasing Wheels
The backspacing on mine really pertain to my car, since I made them to suit. The backspacing has nothing to do with fitting the brakes so much in as does the shape of the spokes on the wheels, rear mounting pad thickness too (and the narrow drop area on the wheel outer)
But if it helps, they are 18 x 8 up front with 4.75" back spacing and rears are 18 x 10 with 5.5" back spacing. That is approxamate on the back spacing by the way, as I didn't build them to a certain back spacing spec, I just set them up on the car, and set them to where I wanted them centered and had them built to that. But those numbers where close on measuring them up a while ago for comparison for someone.
A bunch of the billet wheel manufactures (or the higher end 3 piece wheel companies) do pro-touring sort of wheels geared towards bigger braked cars.
Easiest way to do it, is which ever wheel you decide to go with, just tell them you need them to fit a 2005 Mercedes SL55 AMG as far as brake package go, but have them done in Chev bolt pattern and the back spacing you want, and see if they can build to suit that setup.
If you go with something that uses a soft lip outer, just make sure the drop area of the wheel outer will clear things.

nice stuff Jeff, i thought mine stopped fairly good with 295mm on the front and commodore rear discs hahhahaha
lovin the fact you have one of these over the states, great setup too
Thanks ! Mine would have stopped just fine before even with the smaller 4 piston calipers...and even if I don't have a need for the over kill setup, I just did it "because" I suppose, ha ha.
Al....I have no handbrake at the moment (thought I mentioned that?). One of these I will probably get around to adding a small seperate hand brake caliper but I don't really need one now so hadn't bothered with it ect.
As for the caliper mounting.. Brembos are made with various mouting styles, the 8 piston ones actually have a caliper bracket on them as it is (the original Mercedes part) that allows it to mount as it does. Where the 4 piston ones I had (SRT8 Challenger application) have the mounting lugs cast as part of the caliper.
I just got lucky that the bolt spacing on the mounts are the same between the 2 calipers and made for a "bolt on" swap as far as that goes to the caliper adapter I had originally made.
And not sure how you mean on a 2" braking surface ?
As for part number, I don't have the casting numbers off hand...but application is 2005 Mercedes SL55 AMG (S55 use the same ones I believe) There were similar ones used for a few different years, difference being the way the brake hose mounts. I ended up with these and they worked good...I use the same hoses I used with the 4 piston ones. And on the rear, I use the same hoses as I had for the 1 piston PBR calipers. (Just needed slightly shorter banjo bolts was all)
And no secrets, ha ha...next time I have the front up in the air I will get some more pics for you !

And the answer is no to 2" rd
You'll find the pad depth to be abit more than that

The pads would have been taller than that..

Just trying to make the best of these absolutely useless UPC front brakes.
Neil said they were in fact VE Commodore, which is on the money and the calipers were NEVER EVER going to fit a Torana whichever model you had in mind.
Was just praying that I would be lucky enough to keep the rotors at least and fit them with Brembos.

Why did you not tell him that you are returning them as they don't fit any Torana known? I know of at least 5 torana people who have paid big dollars for UPC (mr spares) supplied goods that simply are useless. Good mate of mine got ripped big and I phoned Tony Edwards on his behalf and told him about the issues. He was arrogant, clueless and blamed everything but his brake kit. Even the pads he supplied along with calipers where incompatible. I mean this guy has no idea and couldn't care less. Why do people think I am saving a couple of hundred and deal with this sort of incompetence? You are pay big dollars for the privilege. Truly having dealt with many 100's of companies and lots of supply issues I have rarely seen one that is so blatantly bad.Just trying to make the best of these absolutely useless UPC front brakes.

Count yourself lucky! As bad as they are...I have got stuck dealing with some right up there with them over here on other things...

I was certainly ripped when I was a kid, but not in my latter years. Before I deal with any company I research them and analyse the feedback. I don't give any credence to flee bay feedback as I find the whole flee bay system open to manipulation and little depth. Far too many rat bags on the internet and far too many rats have a bricks and mortar shop when the quite simply don't deliver.Count yourself lucky! As bad as they are...I have got stuck dealing with some right up there with them over here on other things...
It's just like when I used you. I went back and read everything that people where saying.
Needless to say:
I didn't have to go to my cupboard solution.

I am sure there are plenty of readers who can give you their individual reasons my friend.
I personally have left numerous messages for Tony to call me back (to no avail), and you have to get past the woman who answers the phone.
Last call I made complaining about the fitment reduced her to tears as she told me of the loss of her Son. I naturally expressed my condolences but it doesn't fix my problem.
I guess when new guys to the restoration business see a product that says, (Fits LH,LX,UC,L34,A9X) advertised by a company that has numerous listings, excellent feedback etc. etc. May just buy the very thing they are looking for hence my reason for putting it out there for all to see with the assistance of you experienced guys. (also at LH, LX Big Brakes thread)

I've used Lotus (Esprit V8) Brembos and AP CP5200's on that rotor in the past

Same pad shape as Brembo BA rear... but you can't use that caliper... pistons too small
OK mate! ... that's awesome.
I'm puttin' my money on you that you might even know where I might source these two little dodgy criters.
Cheers AL
