Here are a couple where you can see where I ran the air conditioning low and high pressure lines into the car. I wanted to try and hide them, and this way worked out pretty well for me. (you can see in other pics in the thread how they come off the compressor and what not)
They attache to bulkhead style fittings on the firewall and then 90 fittings under the dash and make thier way to the evap core.

I bought a very nice crimper and made all my own a/c lines as I went...

How much coin are you looking at for that setup and is it a universal kit or did you buy separate pieces and build your own. The boss wants aircond in her SL/R.

I bought most of the stuff seperate. The a/c unit itself , that came with it's wiring and a control panel (which I replaced with a billet one instead of the cheapy looking plastic one it came with.)
From memory that was about $350.
Then bought a compressor from another place (think that was about $140 or so for the polished one I used)
Condenser from another place...around $80 I'd say. (going from memory again, lol)
Then a big pile of hose, fittings and hard line...plus bought a top quality crimp tool for all the fittings.
Oh, plus some assorted ducting hose to run under the dash..maybe $40 in all of that.

Think that was most of it...had to buy the mount kit for the compressor onto the LS1 too..did a bunch of looking and checking around to find one I liked, and what I ended up with fits the car perfectly too! That was abit at $200 but was perfect for the job and am very happy with it. I used an alternator mount from the same company as well.

Last thing was a few cans of R134 freon and borrowed a mate's gauge and vacuum pump setup to charge it all. :)

Thanks for that Jeff, was looking at a Vintage Air setup but i need to measure the area the unit goes under the dash first and i been too slack at the moment, might have to pick your brains some more when i get closer to getting one for model numbers etc and see if the parts are available over here.

No problem....I did the same thing with measuring it up, just tried to find one that would fit under there as best as possible, and at the same time be large enough to cool the car well (it does get pretty warm here in the summer time)

Just holler if you think of anything else to wonder about on it as well!

Got the boot coming along pretty well !

I finished making up the middle panel for the false floor bit, and got the latches on it as well. I used the factory latches you can see but now the panel comes out in one piece, just tilt it up and out it comes. It all sits flush so once the carpet is down you won't really notice anything has been changed around (or about the speaker box being there either)
The latches catch on a metal channel I used on the edge of the metal frame that holds the speaker box...

Also got a shot in with the little storage compartment I made in the center of the speaker box as well...once shut as you can see it's all pretty flush.

Next is to just make a new pair of the 1/4 trim pieces to hold a couple of 6.5" component speakers..

Great work Jeff, won't be long now to see this one in person. Any chance of finding out if there are any hot rod shows on while I'm there???

Thanks Ruts....gotta just pull my finger out and get down to the DMV now and get the rego paid up and start seeing how the cars goes (beside going up and down the block), but been busy with all the other little stuff to finish off inside. Figure once I start driving it, will be harder to be fussed with all the little stuff so trying to do it now.

What dates where you gonna be here again, and I'll check around and see if I can come up with anything being on.

Just a couple other pictures I don't think I had posted....this is when I was pulling the 202 out of the white Torana I had too, and swapped in the 253/4 speed I had in the red car...I knew I was going to be going with an LS1 and made for a handy swap with the white car, which I sent back there and sold actually...

I almost forgot the change....in looking at the last 2 pictures, lol....sure been alot of work inbetween them too! :)

I've been just finishing up building some 1/4 trim panels for the car (ordered some Polk speakers to go in them as well...should be here in a couple days) and while I was working on it today....had a guy come over to buy a carby off me....

He was looking at the Torana.....

I just mentioned it was from Australia, and before I could say any more....

He says... "Cool car! What kind of Ford is it?"

I did explain of course just what it was and who made it! ha ha...
Oh well.....it was amazing how many people thought a 308 was some sort of ford engine before too..lol

I was sure to straighten him out! lol...

I have had a few people see the car and think it was some sort of GM, but were not quite sure what it was.

Over the years I would say a couple people actually knew what it was, which was pretty cool at least!

Thanks Stu!

And yep, it will get paint eventually...

For now just going to put some miles on it and see if there are any bugs to shake out. Most likely I think I will do some engine upgrades before the paint as well (heads and a cam swap)
