If you don't have any luck with the punch let me know...I could always grab one and send it in the next batch of containers (going to start loading in a couple weeks time) then you just would have to get it sent up from Melbourne to you B)

I can dig up a link to the air con hose tool as well if you liked! It is a very well made tool in my opinion, and worked great. I just made a base to bolt it onto, that I cam clamp in the vise is about it. (Or you could bolt the tool itself down as well)

I just rang my insurance company today and got it covered again and will head down to get the rego paid up and current (haven't bothered keeping it up while it's been apart the past couple years) and then time to start doing some miles and work out any bugs which may come up (hopefully not many of course, ha ha)

great car,
FYI, you can get the harbour hole punch without the power pack, just has nuts to tighten, does the same job, just slower.

I've got one of thier little kits with the manual one as well actually! It does not have the big dies, and the hydraulic part does make it far easier to use (and on the larger holes or for thicker metal) and also handy in tighter spots where there is not a heap of room to turn a wrench.

Ooops, forgot about Australia Jr. :)

(sorry....just kidding around... )
I've been to Auckland a bunch of times, but only for like an hour or so at the airport on the way to Melbourne. Does seem like a nice place, and Air NewZealand (who I have been using for ages) has always been an excellent airline!

Free booze, in flight entertainment, how can you go wrong! I always fly with them to, though will also be sampling some of Lufthansas finest later in the year. Incidentally I'm coming to CA for a week or so this year, though sadly it's a fair way from your neck of the woods...

When I first started visiting Melbourne I took United, but after a couple years I had tried Air NZ by chance, and never looked back! Way,way better airline I reckon...

I had a couple guys from Oz stop in today (customers, I am going to be shipping some stuff for them...) and they just freaked out seeing the Torana here in the shed, was pretty cool to see thier reaction and all, ha ha...

Thanks!!

I've been Valiant-less for a little while now, concentrating on the Torana...but think once I am all done I'd like to build a VG coupe next perhaps (Had the Charger for ages, and liked the couple of coupes I had alot, soooooooo....)

I still have a heap of spare VH/VJ panels around though...really should send some of them back I think to sell and turn into something else

Finally got the car on the road! Had to renew the rego and finally got around to it. (I'm going to start loading containers on Monday, but wanted to get a couple days in before hand with the car) so was able to get it out and about. I didn't go far yet, just around the block a bunch of times first off to just sort out any bugs it might have (since it's all new from scratch basically)

A mate of mine stopped by in his mustang as well (he wanted to go for a ride in the car) and got a couple pictures of the pair since I dig his car too and a little different from the run of the mill coupe you see everywhere here.

I got some video too of inside the car and some he took of me just driving back and forth so I could hear how the exhaust sounded, lol... (just working on uploading them now)

I'll get some better video soon, and be doing heaps more driving of course! Have a couple little things I want to check over tomorrow but overall the first few miles in the car seemed pretty good!

Hi Jeff, nice pics.
I've got a question, are droptanks used much in the states?
And if not, do people ask why your car has got such a huge fuel tank?

No such thing as a drop tank over here, and everyone has commented on it that has seen it.. even my buddy with the Mustang who has seen me building the car the past couple years kinda remarks about it.. (I've told him the history of them and how they were used there and why...so he thinks it's cool) Alot of people just don't seem to "get" it. But that's ok....If I didn't like/want it, I wouldn't have bought it and brought it over. B)

Petrol here is going higher and higher in price too...hate to think what it will cost to fill from empty! ha ha....

I was going to ask before but had forgot about it.... my rear spoiler is plastic, not fiberglass (like the flares, front spoiler, etc) who made the plastic spoilers out of curiosity ?

LOL! Yeah they do look cool.

The plastic ones were the factory original ones, I think

Well, here it is....out on the road!

Pretty happy to finally get to run it around some. I didn't go far yet, mainly wanted to just do abit of a shake down run to listen for strange sounds, keep an eye on gauges, etc. Oh, and just see how the exhaust sounds too... :)

I'll just go over it tomorrow and check some suspension bolts (should be ok, but just incase) but overall I am happy! Oh,and need to give it a proper front end alignment as well. I had a mate bring by his caster/camber gauge when I was putting the front end together but now that it's settled and all together I want to double check it as well. (looks like has a little negative camber on one side perhaps)

After going over a few things tomorrow I'll drive it abit further as well, and get everything broken in properly. (Diff is all brand new, and get the brake pads seated as well)

I was surprised you could hear it actually, the radio was pretty quiet so I could hear if anything fell off the car, lol...

And will have something more appropriate for the next drive.

And I'm looking forward to getting a few miles on it so I can really give it some stick too and see how it goes and sounds!!

Oh, and no way would I ever convert an Aussie car to LHD...defeats part of the purpose of it all :)

On the sound, It does have an odd note compared to how it sounded before with a mild cam and original engine...but as you said just part of the LS1 sound I reckon...plus the X pipe seems to quiet it down some as well.
