Put the white lettering on the inside when fitting the tyre to the rim.

Ahh, yes sorry lol.

I have no idea if the lettering could be shaved off by those guys that can add coloured wall??? Be a touchy thing to do and I would be worried about safety at high speed.

Interesting...

See comment below :)

Put the tyre meant for the right hand rim on the left hand rim and vise-versa. direction stays the same, lettering now on the inside...

Edit, unless the lettering is on both sides of the tyrePosted Image

Sorry directional was the wrong word they actually have a tread pattern that requires the white lettering on the outside

...are you sure? What kind of tyres are these?

The white will be all underneath the black too so don't try and shave them back!!!

The writing I have seen is raised lettering on top of the black but am still unsure of shaving.

If you cut into the sidewall of a white letter tyre there is white rubber under the black.

Its the way they are made, part of the manufacturing process.

They dont stick the white letters on the outside. They mould the black over the white.

Unsure of how to black them out permanently shaving wouldnt work because as said above the white lettering is a layer of white rubber between the black. the top layer of black is very thin the tread pattern would be asymmetrical if it has a dedicated inside and outside and tyre black looks crap thats the only way ive ever seen it covered tyre shop cant suppy different tyre of similar value or can you upgrade to a better tyre and pay the difference
cheers mick

i still cant see why you cant do a swap.. im assuming that having a tread pattern which requires the lettering to be on the outside would be very similar, if not the same, to having directional tyres... ill try explain myself with pitcures

typical tyre. tread pattern requires specific tyre rotation..
Posted Image

obviously you cant swap the rims, but putting the tyre on the other rim would do it..
Posted Image

If thats not going to solve the problem, then im beat...Posted Image

Edit: just googled the wheels... dunno about the rim swap, i see what you mean about tread patter.. but dunno ay, it might still work.. anyone else got input?

Tyre black, regularly.

Solvent based stuff is the best.

Cheers.

This thread has been an eye opener for me, I always thought the raised lettering was black with the letters being some sort of industrial type paint.

There ya go.

Herne, no matter how good the paint it wont stay on tyres for to long.

Trust me, i play with "industrial" type paints day in day out.

Cheers.

As Josh (89'King) explained with pics, here it is in steps.

#1 Jack up front of car
#2 remove both wheels
#3 pick up 1 wheel (right side for example) and without turning it around or changing the rotating direction of the wheel, walk around to the other side of the car (left side)
#4 put it on the ground where the other wheel would be then stand back and observe

wallah writing on the inside, direction the same, all you have to do is take tyre off the rim, turn rim around, put it back on then put that wheel on the opposite side of the car.

The only problem with this is the water will be directed under the car and not away from the car with that type of tread pattern if you just swap left rim for right rim. Those tyre's in question can only be fitted to the proper corner they were designed for.

oops, sorry my bad, should have googled first, looks like you might have to put up with it or spend every week (depending on how often it is driven) painting the letters with a black tyre pen and i know how much of a pain in the but that is.
