Sort of sorry I asked now - I should have just PM'd the mods. I am suprised they havn't chimed in.

Not sure what you mean there, a 3.5 year suspended sentence means he was sentenced but is a free man, if he offends then he has to serve the 3.5 year sentence.

Ummm what I was told was sentaced to 5 - 3.5 of this suspended = 1.5 which is what he will end up doing (provided he gets parole at that point). I am just the messenger boy, not a jail bird so I am not right up on the lingo. Will get the 3.5 on top if re-offends in that time. I doubt that too with the legal system in this country. This is not the first time in the cage for the same offence either so clearly has a learning deficiency.

Going on that timing, sounds like when you went back to Queensland. Trust you got it fixed up now. And I thought I was the only cynical one about this country!!!

Pat, a bit of a time warp but I have been back in Brissy since June 2005 - almost 6 years mate, this only happened about 1 1/2 years ago.

I know of people getting that long a sentance just for 2 repeat offences of driving whilst disqualified although they didn't even break any traffic laws - clearly that offence is in the same realm as doing over more than 20 cars and houses, and god knows how many others not caught for, and hundreds of thousands of $$ of damage and theft with plenty of other charges on top for other things - he has quite the resume.

The judges and magistrates are just as big a crims and the country has clearly disappeared up it's own arse on what sentances are handed out for various different things.
