hi everyone,im in the process of rebuilding my lx ss hatch hillclimb/super sprint car and one thing on the to do list is a brake upgrade.current set up consists of hq stubs and rotors with lx/uc calipers and hx brackets with hq drums on rear.im not real keen on hopper stoppers and would like to run some sort of 4 pot caliper ive borrowed a r32 skyline caliper from a mate and ive looked at the tutorial on here for that and would like some more feedback on that from guys that have used it on circuits.adapter brackets worry me a little and so does the thinner hq rotor, has anyone had any probs with them.ive also been looking at wilwoods and been speaking to a guy in sydney from m.d conversions who can supply calipers that should bolt straight upto the hq stub,he can also supply a 4 pot calipers and bracket for the rear to run vs rotors on the back is anyone on here using a similar set up for circuit work.aps and brembos would be nice but probably not really in the budget.i noticed one guy on the tutorial has swapped form wilwood to skyline calipers are the skyline ones an improvement.lastly there would im guessing be a good pad choice for the nissan stuff, what about wilwood i know it has to come from them but do they have a good range as id need to types one for hillclimb and one for sprints.look forward to some feed back regards jason
p.s for what its worth i have hz one tonner heat treated stubs and getting harrop arms.

I cant speak for the guys running the skyline conversion, but i ran the hoppers 330mm kit on my LH. It had an adapter bracket made from 10mm plate! that is extremely thick for the application and has no flex in it at all. I believe the skyline adapter brackets are made from 10mm plate as well. Pretty much all aftermarket kits will use an adapter bracket to bolt the caliper on. I never had any issues of weakness, flexing or pad knock off caused by my front brake conversion.

Not sure how the skyline calipers mount, but making brackets is not a huge drama really.
I am running Brembo 4 piston calipers on mine with 360 x 36mm rotors and made my own brackets out of 5/8" thick steel plate. Overkill I'd imagine but plenty strong and the spacing worked out really well also.

When I first looked into this conversion for my hatch, I was at QR, and took some footage of a big HP Mustang, which is the link here.I ended up chatting with the guy about it, and it had the r32 fronts and commodore rears, so I thought if it cant stop this 1000hp mustang, its good enough for a Torana, that would never see that sort of power on a circuit.

Mild steel. I cut them out of some chucks of it. I made a template out of aluminum first then cut them out of steel, drilled the holes and added the spacer bits to them.
