Still looking for my two L34s. Salamanca bought new in Oct 74 and Gold bought in 76. There is a Salamance Red on Aussie Muscle cars that says it has a HO package. Does anyone know if it does. HO package was oil cooler, 750 Holley, bigger cam, better roller rockers, header extensions?, maybe air scoop under front bumper. Anyone help here? Anyone own a Salamance Red L34 with Ralph Martell in the owners manual? Anyone know how gold L34s were built and where they are? Ralph

If you can access the SL/R5000 L34 suppliment book, it lists all the additional parts & the part numbers.

780 holley was always quoted but depending on the dealer,a variety of size holleys carbs were used from square bores to spread bores..one of the first prototype L34s that was been tested by harry firth can be seen sporting a 780 holley with the dual feed fuel lines and very little air stack like the red one pictured on AMC currently...

Ralph you have been asking questions for the than long enough about your supposedly 2 old L34s, I've personally owned over half dozen red L34s and 1 off the 2 gold ones my memory is reasonably good when it comes to L34s..you have been asked several times to show something that might assist in locating there whereabouts or existence...perhaps and old photo or even a rego number surely some off your friends or family have something otherwise your sounding trumpet for nothing..

Yeh i thought it was that way, thanks U-Festa. i know of 2 owners who swear they had 4165 d/p 650 spreadbores from the dealer, the ones with side floats and transfer tube on the outside. 1974 was the first year for that design.
Also they could run the standard aircleaner under the 4165 style carb, for warranty reasons i suppose.
cheers Gary

Alan at carby services burwood Sydney tells me he fitted a couple of 650 spread bore double pumpers holleys to L34s belonging to johnny Muir of Muir's Holden ashfield when they were still brand new cars, lot of holleys were fitted to most cars back then and people over the years have assumed they have track packs or high output cars when in fact they were just STANDARD L34s that were slightly modded..i have a burgundy track pack L34 with all the bits big winged groupC sump, oil cooler, solid camshaft,780 holley etc..this was fitted by a former groupC race driver from the 70's era..

there's perception out there that the car's were delivered from new with the track pack bits which i believe is wrong, the parts were made available through the Holden dealers and some dealers took it upon themselves to install bits and pieces and so forth..there was a $1500 (hot pack) option which included crane or norris roller rockers, harrison gm oil cooler, solid lifter camshaft,hm header street extensions and holley carby or the parts could be individually..the one thing i personally like about the L34s is very little is known about them or documented where as we have XU1 & A9X numbers and figures....even the numbers made is still a guess the figure 263 is always used but again i never heard or seen general motors confirmed that except some the recent magazines which still doesn't make it gospel

UnclefestaL34s

You are absolutely correct I have been looking for my two L34s for several years now and maybe I will find them but maybe I won't. As far as trumpet blowing is concerned, just pass over my posts if you are not interested, thats ok by me. Really, the inference is a little unfriendly and not needed. I intend to keep searching but the only details that I can find is the original rego number NSW GUI 034 which I changed to RM 869. This car went to Narromine and was fitted with cross over Webbers and then was at Lismore. A guy in Lismore rang me in 1978 at ask if I was the same guy who bought it new. No other details.
