Excellent job mate! Smashing through it. As others have said, for someone who
hasn't done much work on cars, your certainly doing an awesome job! Keep it up!

John.

Thanks for the support guys!
Hopefully I get this engine bay done this weekend and then I'll be having a crack at the nose-chop.

I haven't really got much of a clue how I'm going to go about it....... I'll have to consult Mr. Dirt before I do any cutting. :)

you don't need to consult Mr Dirt before you cut

You should have more confidence in yourself..... any idiot can cut

it is the craftsmen that can weld it back on.... then consult the exalted one :)

Hi my Torana friends!

Here's a few more things that I've finished up doing.

Remember a while back when I did this bit?

Posted Image

Well it now looks like this!

Posted Image

And here's the rest!

Posted Image

It'll need a few tweaks to get it spot on but I'll get to that eventually.

ENGINE BAY DONE!!!!

I'm in two minds as to what I should do next, as I can do either the famous Dirtbag nose- job or shall I fit this little beauty up?

Posted Image

A thousand thanks to 0LJ-08 for the dash support panel, you are a true gentleman :)

All righty then, let's do the damn nose chop, for all you bossy buggers!
P.S. Lx Torry Freak, no standard here mate..... Just a tool who welds and grinds in pluggers and footy shorts! (manly yes, trust me with YOUR car, no!)

Here's a few pics of before I started hacking

Posted Image
Posted Image

The pen line that you see..... Pay no attention to that, it's a boo-boo.

Posted Image

Snip. Snip. Snip.
Right now I'm shaking my head wondering what the hell I've just done!

Posted Image

This box sectiony bit here wouldn't let me fit the nose cone on

Posted Image

So I chopped it off too :)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Notice in one of the pics that I've had to start cutting the bottom corners of the radiator support so the nosecone could fit up closerer :)

Here's a pic of the overlap bit. If you've read that "other guys" UC/LX conversion thread,(y'all know who I'm talking about!) you'll know how I'll fix it up

And here it is sitting up on the front of the car

Posted Image

There is still quite a bit of manipulating to go, but I'm feeling so confident about this type of thing now so I reckon I'll smash it out awesomely :buttrock:

Great work kush I love what you have done to the engine bay! I wish i had done the UC conversion like you and dirt bag. I did it the long way! Well done mate. Yep another UC-A9x Clone! When these cars are out there any idea what they will be worth in good condition? Keep up the good work.

I like your work, alot more to do however easyer to replace panels if skip jumps out in front and gets cleaned up.
At the end of the day both ways get rid of that oh so ugly UC front.

Berro, thanks mate. I haven't a clue what one of these mutant UCs would be worth. Probably the same as an un-chopped one..... It's still a UC after all! Once it's finished though, it will never be for sale (I've put far too much work into it) so I guess I'll never find out. :dontknow:

So far, this work has cost me nothing at all. I certainly wouldn't pay for someone else to do all these mods to the car....... The hours/labour would be astronomical.

Neils LX, I certainly hope I don't hit a roo in it or anything..... I will cry.
But finding ANY Torana panels is a nightmare in northern QLD, so it's a massive mission either way. :)

Its gonna look sweet as an LX instead of a UC, not used to not being able to find parts so nothing wrong with using what you got.
Keep up the good work

Not sure whether they work or not some shu-roos or something might be good investment. You could probably hide them under the guard or spoiler.

This is looking grouse. After you've done such a nice job on the engine bay I can't see the outer panels being an impossible job. Are you planning to do something kind of individual like the front apron on Dirtbag's brother's car? Something thats not UC but not quite LX either would be cool

Yeah Kush. I wouldnt sell mine either! I like you Ive done it all myself. Ive been at mine for 2 years now. Are you goining to do the taillights and dash graft too? Thats a real welding marathon.

It's much easier to remove the whole tail light panel and replace it, rather than cutting the sides off. and leaving the centre section in place.
The lower part will probably have rust, but it's easy enough to make a new piece.

That's if you can find a rear cut anyway. If you're torana spares are as limited as they are here then you might end up having to make the tail light buckets from scratch too???

Looking forward to seeing more!!!!
