Yes I picked it up last year for carton of beer needs full resto and does not have original engine need to go back and pick it up but everything else is there plus a boot full of parts.

Not sure what to do with it yet may just sit for a couple of years in shed.

Nice pick up mate. I think I vaguely remember you mentioning it once before on here. The carton of beer rings a bell.

That front panel is from an LC 4 cylinder.
HB's did not have the cut outs, other than that they were the same.

Oh dear Rob, it's probably not a real Brabham now :P
Let me take it off your hands :D

You'll have to get the boys in the UK to send a new panel over.

Can you post a pic of the Lockheed callipers please?

Grant..

The HB Brabham pictured with the extra holes is a 69 model (series 2 HB), all the magazine & brochure shots are series 1 cars. Many series 2 HB panels were pressed in Australia, whereas most (if not all) series 1 panels were imported from the UK.

Could it be that series 2 HBs, like subsequent LC/LJ/TA 4-cyl models did get the cut-outs.

I hope you have a type2/series2 Brabham. A proper GMH "muscle" car, the single and only GMH performance vehicle (I say performance loosely here!) that was a model in its own right outside of the 1837 HK-HQ Monaros (GTS327 and GTS350), and not an optioned up lesser model (like XU1, A9X, XW8, XU2 (and XU2+L34) plus later HDT Commodores). The type2 Brabham can stand with its head held high amongst such illustrious company!

I think I've seen it going around a roundabout sideways about 15 years ago.Posted Image

Serious mode ON -
Series 2 panel. The changover in dies/panels would have been mid run as they would have exhausted the current stocks. The UK ones didn't come CKD, they came as shells and cases of panels to provide spare parts later.
FWIW LC 4cyl front panels are HB ones, they just kept pressing them.
So all LC 4cyls have a little bit of their history included :D

Byron, it's an upspec Series 70!! :P
Ad just a redo of the Brabham GT Viva!!

I thought the first type was option XS5 on HB model 2611 with a higher performance engine so somewhat like an XU-1. Although I may be wrong I thought the second type was a separate model, I can't find it in the Doc's book so maybe I am wrong.

You can quote me, Byron. My book is WRONG with the model code on the HB series 2 Brabham.

In series 1, the Brabham was an option pack (XS5) which was available on both S (82411) & SL (82611). In the series 2 HB the Brabham was sold in one form only, based on the SL. All of the GM-H literature I had available to me at the time listed this as 82611 PO XS5 for both series 1 & 2. I could find nothing (in print) which listed the series 2 Brabham as 82811. So that's how it was when we went to print nearly 3 years ago.

Only in the last year have I found some official paperwork listing the later Brabham as 82811. This will be corrected in the upcoming 2nd print, however the first print will always be wrong.

I would like to hear from anybody out there who has found any other errors in the book. The aim, of course is to make the book the complete & 'perfect' reference for all things Holden. It's getting very close, It can only be better with your input, along with more work at my end.

I know there are a few guys out there who are very knowledgeable & passionate about 1 or 2 models in particular & due to this they will know more than I in that area, I would love to hear from you about any aspects of my book that you find wanting, or even think may be incorrect.

Are the HJ Sandman errors in the text or in the data columns ?

Will check. From memory it is the mention of Kingswood XX7 as early build only, it is actually the other way around ie Holden XX7 disappeared early and Kingswood XX7 and XU3 stayed on until the end of HJ. I'll send you the details when I get a chance. You should probably get a copy of the book to Ben as well for Monaro input.

And some more of the car

I believe this Brabham was built between Nov 68 and Feb 69 (Only time Silver Mink was available.) according to Norm Darwin who has been in contact with me for some info about my HB's.

He was unsure about the holes in the front panel but said he would get back to me when he had more info.
Could this car have had this panel put on some time during it's life as a result of a crash as the body number is not stamped on the right hand inner guard as seen in this picture or is it somewhere else.

These are the tags for my two door "S"

Posted Image

And the body number

Posted Image

I believe this means it was the 175th S Series II body made in Elizabeth then sent to Perth for assembly, thus the PSN of L601030 means the 1,030th HB assembled in Perth.

The S was built between Jan 68 and Oct 68 as this was when that trim combination was used.
Delivery date to owner was 12/3/68 according to owners manual.

Grant I will post up a picture of the front brakes when I can get the car up and remove a wheel.

Cheers Rob

Hello all,
anyone heard of the Brabham Torana that was made up for one of the Holden executives? ( it had 4 doors )this car has only had two owners and a guy in Perth now owns it.

I have the remains of a TA Torana if anyone wants front pannels or a bumper?

Mike
