It's interesting to read the story by Neil Burns with the last of the HDT Group C cars where he talks about dry sumping and how HDT felt it was an unwarrented cost because they were having no problems so they spent the money in other areas. Bob Morris however was using dry sumps in 1979 in the A9X. Harry Firth was using a semi dry sump in the L34.
Your right Red, they really had their act together HDT, Burns is a genious, Id love to know the secrets, but Brock didnt rev the things to hard either, so maybe that was the secret to long lasting 308s back then ?

Hi Mark,How did the sump and header clearence issue end up mate?
I havent been back down the coast to do any more yet, but Ill try 2 gaskets, and hopefully that will push it out far enough to clear the sump, but then there is the other issue of head stud kit, originally I had to diegrind bits of the headers to clear them, so now they maybe needing some more grinding, all for the sake of the sump ! Thats cars for ya !

Bullet do a pretty good job, have a couple of mates who have used them for engine builds (260hp 202 for one with 150 shot of NOS)
I would suggest they may be a good route to go down.

Thanks baron, that would be excellent.Apparently they make an alloy mount for the crank, that uses a peterson pin drive, not exactly what I was going to do, but it maybe better than the 6 inch bolt and spacers style that BDG use.Ill find the pic and post it.
