You should leave some maroon somewhere, just for sentimental purposes......

Na, scratch that, KILL IT WITH FIRE.

Cheers.

I hoping that these would look ok after I stripped the black paint off...

Wrong... maroon powdercoat underneath the black paint.... They have been blasted prior to powdercoating... Ill need to get them re-plated.

Popped the shocks n springs out last night whilst the K-Frame was still in the car.

Not sure how old these are? Monroe Gas I think?

Posted Image

Slipped the K-Frame and donk out this arv... Had an issue with the outrigger bolts..... They were fitted with the head of the bolt toward the centre of the car, so as the would come out they fouled on the extractors preventing them coming out... pulled the extractors off the the head but still couldnt remove them from the car..... and the bolts still fouled.... Finally got em out with some dicking around. Pretty sure the head of the bolt should be toward the outside of the car and nut is fitted on the inner part?

Been pretty busy with work lately 12 hour split shifts 10am till 6:30pm then 8:30pm till 12:30pm... so havnt really had a great deal of time to get anything done... this will be the case for the next month or so pretty much....

But have stripped my calipers down... the pistons were seized badly.. not sure if the calipers/pistons can be resurrected or not...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Scored an undamaged heater box, hit it with the soda blaster to get all the crapy layers of old paint off.. white/black/orange...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Gave my inlet manifold a blast also to clean it up. Noticed a lot of corrosion around a water port blank off... Bit of a blast and I went straight through... nice little hole... Ill have to get that fixed up...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Pulled the K-Frame down today also, going to be a big job stripping all the powder coat of everything, blasting then 2 pac'ing...

Hahahahahaha. Yeah I know..... Been doing double shifts at work day/night so havnt been living at home. So gettin nuthin done.....

All the k-frame is in bits, most of it painted. Had to get the k-frame blasted cause it's to big for our stripper tank.

Pulled a few bits off the donk to get cleaned up.

We're dual row timing chains standard??

Please chock those back wheels on the ramps!

Also you should be able to have stainless steel liners pressed into the calipers.

Some more stuff... blah blah blah...

Manifold/bellhusing and g/box rear snout have been blasted. They were all red before and looked crap...

Posted Image

Gave my reverse switch a make over also. Its been re-painted black. I dont think this is the correct type for LH SLR 5000 however??

Posted Image

K-Frame is now black....

Posted Image

Have to press in all the suspension rubbers before I paint the upper/lower arms

Posted Image

More black bits...

Posted Image

Stripped the motor down a little to get it ready for painting.

reverse switch looks ok to me brad
i had mine re-zinc coated but assembled it back to front
so reverse lights were on in neutral and all forward
gears
had to sacrifice one of the sidchrome 9/16,s to get the bastard out
of the tunnel so as not to drop the box
suggest you check your assembley and wiring before it goes in

in as it was a real pain in the ass to fix after

Ah yes. I was planning on setting up the shifter and linkages whilst it's all out of the car. Yeah I'll check the switch at the same time and confirm its closed circut when in reverse.

Are the motor and box already in good condition and not requiring a rebuild?

Time will tell!!!!! The motor has had a full rebuild, hence being fitted with REPCO pistons. As far as I know this car has been off the rd for many years so doubt the motor has dont much work... Replacing all the gaskets and seals in the motor/box. If I had more $$$ Id do a full rebuild of them both. But things are tight enough as it is... home ownership by yourself sux....
