No. I don't think so. I'm more concerned about not having the correct battery terminals.

Got the stock engine pipes fitted and added the balance pipe in. Need to get the inlet/outlets of the mufflers flared open just slightly so I can fit them onto the pipes.

Great job Brad, did you have much trouble fitting them up or did everything (with-in-reason) go smoothly.

Can't wait to see and hear this running.

Well the RHS pipe was a NOS Berklee brand, so it fitted up fine. The LHS pipe was from Autoline on WA. I had to weld in the balance pipe however. But that was no big deal.

But yeah nah, dropped the sway bar out of the way and the engine pipes just fitted in perfectly. I was pretty happy with the fitment otherwise!!!

Hopefully the mufflers and tailpipes fit up ok.....

I'm heading to Brisbane on Thurs till Sun to get bliiiiind so probably won't get much work done. But once the mufflers are on I think it's ready to fire up and go for a drive.

Going to send my vinyl/carpet down to Cools Auto Trim this week also for them to make up some new $700 door trims. And need to find some new bloody bumper bars.......

I might have to drop the diff out to get the tailpipes on... Not sure if I've got enough height. The next shed is getting a bloody hoist!!!!!!!!!

Still awaiting on my wheel nuts from Year One in the USA, been 3 weeks now.... Once I have them I can put my stock wheels on.

Looks nice mate but I like the Rebels more. I reckon it'd be worth keeping the Rebels so you can alternate every now and then. But nice work its so close now.

Hey Brad was just looking through that "Automotive tradies not up to the task" and saw your tailshaft dilemnas. Did you end up sourcing a new one? If not I have one here that I will not be using, I can measure it for you to make sure it's the right size?

Hey mate. Yeah a forum member helped me out with a new shaft. Had new unis fitted and had it balanced. No idea if the work they performed is any good yet......

I was going to go hotwires but thought it best to go stock. I'll end up selling the rebels. Not sure what they are worth these days? 13 by 6 or 7 not sure what they are!!!!

Cool man. Hope you have a wet weather back up plan? As its getting into the wet season then. Plus it's going to be seriously hot n humid. Boardshorts and a suit jacket would be the go.

OK... so the day finally came to hit the key. I primed all the fuel lines, fuel pump and float bowl with fuel. Wound over a couple of times and then it sprang into life!!!

Got the cooling system bled ok, confirmed no oil/water leaks. I had originally statically set the timing with points fitted in the dizzy and used my DMM to set it up. Then I fitted the Pertronix. The timing is set at 6 deg BTDC with the vac advance line disconnected off the dizzy. Could it or should it be more? Idles about 750rpm.

Had to fit little dump pipes off the mufflers as there is no way the tailpipes will fit, they are bent incorrectly so it will need to go to an exhaust shop to get that corrected. Once again.... pay money to a company and they cant do what has been asked.

I noticed the other day when I gave the car a bit of a push up and down on the rear, that there is a decent thumping sound. I kinda need a 2nd person to help identify it, but it dam well sounds like its the shocks making the noise. All the shocks are brand new BOGE brand, AnywaysI pulled both rear shocks out, they have rubbers above and below its upper mount. The lower mount is solid.

It kind of seems to me that the shock internally is at its full extension, and when you push down on the car and it rebounds back upwards, it bottoms out internally on the upward movement???

Could this be possible?

Went for a little blocky up the street and back, and then gave it a much needed bath. Still have to fit the rear spoiler but want to get the entire car professionally polished prior to this and then Ill fit the SL/R 5000 decals and rear spoiler.

Still need to get bumper bars, Id like to try the brand new ones but there are none available.... Also awaiting on my door trims to get made which is in the process. I was also advised by RSP that the new replacement LH bonnet cables are now available!!! Got one getting sent on Monday!!!!

Awesome stuff.

Be very very carefull with "professional polishers"

Most are total garbage and cant buff a dark car, yet alone black.

I do have a lad who can do black, but you would have to pay for him to go from rocky to you, and supply him piss, and probably bring me along cause since quitting his buffing job he doesnt have access to the gear, but conveniently i have it.....Could work out expensive lol.

That said being a mob of professional pissheads we would probably have a frOcking epic time to lol.

Cheers.

Hahahahahaha!!!! Yeah man! I dont think much work would get done though? Just a lot of sittin round drinkin fartin and yarnin??? Maybe some skids in the shed?

There is a guy up here who is known to detail a few of the show cars around, Ive see his work, detailing seems to be his passion, hobby, interest and his daily job. I couldnt think of anyone else up this way that could do it...

Sounds the go.

Basically the darker a car gets the harder it is to buff satisfactorally.

Im medium, considering vehicle denibbing and buffing is part of my trade thats a given.....I can do medium cars.

Any frOckwit can buff a white car and make it look good. Guys with a keen eye will pick some faults, but basically its impossible to frOck up.

Mid colored cars (like my LJ) are easyish. If you dont know what your doing you will frOck it quickly. But a basic idea and some patience you will get a show quality finish. This is where i personally run out of talent.

Dark/black cars are level 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000, very few people can buff one without it looking shit to the untrained eye and an absolute train wreck to the trained eye. Very very few people can successfully buff one. I personally would not even attempt putting a buffer to your car, even though its part of my trade.

If your lad has a quality reputation, go for him!!

If not, pissup time :D

cheers.

Thanks for that insight mate!!!

Ill get him round to have a look and an opinion. Because this car had been sitting as a painted shell with the previous owner for a good few years, there are signs of swirls and what not. I guess from car covers going on and off and dust on the paint.

Ill see what this fella says. Otherwise yeah, you lads might have to come up to hillbilly country and try some of our tasty cold beverages!
