I think it will ever only be a pipe dream to get it to Toranafest. 2500 clicks one way to Newcastle but if it goes to Canberra it would be 3000 clicks. Possible 6000 click round trip. I don't think I would have the patience for that!!!! Or the money.... Tow car hire plus trailer hire plus plus plus. Driving it down is not an option. You have no idea how bad our hways are from Brisbane north.

Hahahahaha, yeah I know!

Ive got 3 bumpers here that I was going to get repaired and re-plated, but the costs of freight both ways and repairs are a great deal more then just buying some brand new ones. But there are none in stock anywhere.

I was digging through my drawer of receipts and came across this one for the work carried out on my diff.... Dam.... I wish I was armed with this when I went back in there with that bodged up bloody bolt....

The roads are shocking alright. Only way you could get down unscathed would be fitting a car bra that is 5 mm thick, go 80km/h all the way.

On the plus side, you aren't running lowered suspension and low profile wheels.

I would never consider driving it. Id loose one of those baby 13in wheels into a pot hole! It is actually running low pedders springs. It would have to be trailered down, and I doubt my BMW would cope with the task.

As soon as some one gets some stock of new bumpers Ill be snapping a pair up!

Well I guess the Drive from Cairns to Canberra would be about the same distance as Perth to Adelaide. Bit to far for my liking in a old car. Maybe in a brand new rental car Id be happy. As the stone chips wouldnt bother me then.

You get more pleasure driving it than looking at it in the shed
Have done Canberra to Perth in a 6 cyl LH not too many years ago
And that was after said LH drove down from Brisbane first

Yeah nah. Im the other way around. I get more pleasure, looking at and tinkering on rather then driving. But I guess different things make different people happy. Thats life.

But the Bruce Hway is notorious for being a single lane either way billy goat track.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

All the money for roads and infrastructure gets spent in the South East first then the few bob left over gets spent on filling pot holes up here.

Looks bloody awesome! Congrats on getting it together and running.

In regards to getting it buffed, does it really need to be machine-buffed? Given the patience and attention to detail you've put into all other areas of the car, you yourself would have to be the only person who'd do a 100% job of it. If its just swirls and scratches I don't see why you couldn't get the paint perfect buffing it by hand. And everyone else you've paid to do shit for you has f#cked it up.

But yeah it looks amazing.

Hey mate, thanks heaps for that offer!!! You have helped me out heaps!

At this stage I think Im pretty much right for bits and pieces. Think Im about 99.9% complete! Thanks for the offer. Appreciate it.

Made a start on fitting the boot spoiler. The boot lid is original and has the 6 original holes still present. However its also had another 8 holes put in at some stage for an aftermarket bobtail.

The spoiler that came with the car is fibreglass and appears to have been gooped on with sikaflex at some stage.... As it has no mounting points...

So anyways, Im trying my best to make do with a bad situation (bootlid full of holes and a bobtail with no mounting points...)

Ive made up some plates, ground down the heads of some bolts and tack welded them on.

Im using the extra 8 holes for mounting as it will mount the bobtail better then just the 6 original ones.

I put contact glue on to the plates and bobtail, fitted it up and got the rear plates stuck on in the right spot.

Then went over them with 3 sheets of fibreglass. So far so good, along the rear section. Ive made a start on the top side and will glass them tomorrow. Followed the same procedure on the top side.

Decided to buy re-chromed bumpers outright from Vinneys. Otherwise cost to freight mine down AND back and re-plate works out to expensive. Hopefully have them in a week or so. Also Steve at Cools should hopefully have my door trims done next week. Ill get the boot spoiler mounted this week. Then the only thing it needs is to have the tailpipes fixed up.

Then RWC time!!!

Hahahahaha, yeah In know... Bit dodgy... This one works, but I doubt Ill ever use it!

Bumper bars left Vinneys on Friday so may show up this week.

Hopefully door trims will be done soon also.

Drained the brakes and have taken the brake prop valve back to the brake shop as it was leaking out the warning switch. Also took the calipers back in also, had to SERIOUSLY tighten the bleed valve to get them to stop weeping.

Sent the incorrect rear shocks back the other week, fingers crossed the new ones arrive and are the correct length.
