You have no idea what I had to go through to get these on today. My stress levels are up at "MURDER"....

Posted Image

The issue I had today with registering this was.... The Safety Certificate asks for a VIN/Chassis number.

It had the 15 digit number from the VIN plate in the centre of the firewall.

The DOT cant accept a VIN ID containing less then 17 digits..... as they believe that any car prior to 1989 does not have a VIN plate?

This says its a VIN plate in the manual????

Posted Image

Sooooo.... the DOT needed to use the chassis number, well I didnt have the car with me as I didnt want to be driving it around unregistered with no plates on it, and plus... it was like 35 degrees here and 95% humidity... not a nice day to drive an un-air-conditioned car...

They wouldnt accept photos of the chassis #, or the fact its stated on the Dating Certificate from my car club. So I had no choice but to go and get the car... they inspected it and continued on. Come time to issue number plates, turns out they didnt have any "S" plates on hand... I had to take the SLR home, then drive across town in the BMW to the other DOT and get "S" plates off them....

Was just not an enjoyable situation to what should have been a happy day, taking a ticket and waiting in line at various DOT's.......

She did tell me the car was last registered in Cairns in 2000 though.

I think he's talking about the rego plate after reading his previous post Dave.

Nice to see that she's finally a driver.

Great work Brad.

Hey Dave, yep these pipes came from Autoline in WA. One of the local exhaust shops told me they are not experienced enough to make the tail pipes from scratc

These ones needed to have some cutting and bending to allow perfect fitment.

But yeah, they shoot peas alright!!!! hahahahahha

And yes Al, these are just club rego plates.

Are yes the old Pea Shooters, i remember buying my 1977 LX SS L31 Hatch, M21 4 Speed that had 40,000 K's on it, and it had the Pea Shooters.

You can also fit personalised plates to Club registered cars in QLD - they stand out less & look Sooooooooooooo much better than S plates

Yeah it's all big city prices over here mate. And the interesting thing is, Cairns has on average, the lowest wages in the country but the highest prices for goods and services. These are a one off payment also, but it's a way to make money for the govt.

The car is still currently at the detailers place. May get it back next week, then can fit the SLR 5000 decals. Pull the M/C back off and re re-paint it due to it leaking and damaging the paint. Also need to re re-place the gearbox rear extension seal as its weeping. And of course the front bumper bar has been sent away for re re-plating due to it cracking.

I've been so bored so I made up a set of custom fit floor mats......
