With your eyes shutI often wonder if I would get my $63k that I was asking these days? The prices seem to be on he way up?

What did it look like when you bought it Brad? The first pics in the thread show it already painted.
Posted 30 October 2017 - 09:34 AM
Correct. I bought the car as it is in the first few pics. A bare painted rolling shell.
When I tracked the original owner down and spoke with him on the phone, he told me that the LHS of the car suffered some damage in a carpark incident and required the LH guard and door to be repainted. The panel beater was unable to replicate or source the pin striping and it was decided at that stage to remove it all entirely. So Im unsure if the gold pin stripping was painted on or stuck on?????????

I just got 63k for my LH SLR and it isn't a 5000. Just tastefully modified but to a very high standard like your car. You would easily get 70k I reckon. Again remoteness my hold you back a little. A good mate of mine recently got 70k for a nice un-modified or restored 5000 recently too. Strike while the iron is hot if you are interested. The bubble will burst again.....

I thought I saw one go at Auction for $97,000 a few months ago??? Perhaps it had flares so it fetched a bit more. I dont have to sell. The car owes me nothing. The money would only go into building another car. But Id rather keep this and build another car and just keep growing my collection! lol.

I'm thinking exactly the same way. And I was offered waaayyy more than 80 grand for mine. Including petrol, mine owes me about 18k.

Back when I first decided to advertise it, it was due to personal circumstances with my mortgage and parents being on the loan. That has all been resolved now that I sold that house. I think the bubble was a bit deflated back then also. Seems these Lloyds Auctions are the way to go if you want to cash in!
A mate sent me some pics of a 10A RX3 coupe that needs a full resto but he wants $15k for it. I know they are fetching silly money now also. But $15k is a lot to then spend another $50k on. I guess its much the same as Torana's are these days. A rusty shell fetches big bucks...

If you don't need to nor want to, then we will move on from this discussion. Just thought you were flaunting the idea again.

I have tried contacting him through facebook with some rough Indonesian but he isn't too keen on talking back. The post was made back in September so probably long gone now anyway.
