Righto, well the seats have been re-upholstered and have come up mint. To good to sit in... Ill have to scotch-guard the Chevron Cloth. In sunlight, the Chevron actually has a gold tinge to it. No Chevron cloth left over, but still have a bit of Nylex Chamois Vinyl that Ill use for other things. Going to drop my centre console arm rest in there to get done.

Managed to get another console from Western Australia of all places..... And it got here in one piece this time...! What a surprise!

Ive already taken the arm rest in to the upholsterer to re-cover using my Nylex Chamois Vinyl. Looks like this console was brown at some point in its life? Then its been painted black?

I thought they all started life black and then were painted the various colours?

Will need a few bits for it, flip up lid, shifter boot assy. Gotta figure out how to strip the paint off it so I can re-paint it Chamois. Should come up looking nice I hope.

Got some more colour on some parts yesterday. Used Gloss Black on the boot hinges, as Ive been using satin on everything else.

The ol parts room is starting to fill up... and has since spilled over into the other spare room.... Ahhh the joys of living by your self! Space!!!

Yeah mate it does. Matching numbers in fact, confirmed with GMH.

Im starting this build from the rear and working my way forward, so the engine bay is in a pretty ordinary state currently... But as I work my way forward that will change!! The K-Frame and donk will come out, as the K-Frame and all the front suspension is powder coated maroon.... Ill be re-spraying the engine bay also.

This is a pic from the day I went to look at the car to buy.

Hahahahha... Yep been down that road before!!! Yeah nah, Ill be driving this one, but Ill have to give the seats a good hit with some 3M scotchguard!

Does it run ok? bit of spit & polish!

Are you going back to original rocker covers etc?

Yes it runs very nicely actually. I dont know the specs of the motor, but its dosnt sound like it has a stock cam in it. Its currently got a LYNX Weiand Manifold and a 650DP. No oil leaks, no knocks or bad noises. No smoke. Revs cleanly and sounded really nice. Ive got a stock manifold and a pair of stock rocker covers to go on. These stupid rocker covers are like alloy or something??? Dunno what they are off? Not sure what to do with the carb. A Rochy would be the best for originality. But Im not to clued up on them.

At this stage of the game. I dare say I wont open the motor up. Ill get it on the road and see how it performs. If there is an issue, then its no big deal to pop it back our for a re-build. But my guess is its had work at some stage. So the motor will get paint stripped and 2pac'd.

No unfortunately, the seats dont have the chrome winders. I know you have mentioned that a few times! I have no idea what they even look like.

Thanks for you kind comments also. Appreciate it.

Finally received my Fine Spline LSD Banjo from Tasmania today!!!! Dropped it into the mechanics to get overhauled. Got some Fine axles also. What a mission that has been..

Also picked up a few bits from the Zinc plater. not happy with the quality of any of it... So Ill blast it again... and send it away to be Cad plated. Waste of money that exercise was...

hi mate, work on the car looks great. not sure if you want to blast that stuff before cad plating. blasting takes all the shine out, makes it rough. did with mine anyway...

cheers, scott

I bead blasted all this stuff prior to being zinc plated, and yes it feels all rough, as if its like sandpaper?? However the surface was perfectly smooth after I had bead blasted it.

yeah, i handed my stuff to the plater, he said it wouldn't come out good because it was blasted. paint, grease etc, no worries but sand blast no good. he was right too, came out bad. i would have thought opposite but...

yep the reason the zink looks so bad is likely the rought blasted finish.

Sanding with real fine paper is best if you want an awesome finish. Scotch brite pads on a 3" air sander are next best for lazy people like me.

Cheers.
