Hey hanra, what colour will you do the tank in? Were they painted from factory or zinc?

Wow.... I thought it was exxy.... They also pressed the trailing arm/diff bushes in as well, and had the housing sandblasted and primed.

They only slugged me $100 to get it blasted/primed. They had the fun job of cleaning the housing out!!!

Getting keen to get this back in the car so I can get it on its feet and give it a good wash.

Ive got to get off a lot of fishoil/rust proof..... I was considering using Kerosene to wash the car in? Or Prepsol? Thoughts..?

Cost me $2,000 for my 10 bolt overhaul.

They checked straightness of housing, axles, flange faces & bearing surfaces. Installed a reconditioned replacement centre, new bearings, seals and extensive lapping of NOS 2.6 gears that like most NOS stuff these days was not in the best condition when I recieved them.

Money well spent when you consider it is the only thing that has performed flawlessly.

Funny story about my diff is that I dropped it off just before flying away for work. So I gave them a few days to pull it apart and compile a diagnosis before I rang them to find out how much. The conversation went something like.

Me "So Steve, tell me about the diff?"
Steve "It's been flogged mate!"
long pause.....................
Me "What?"
Steve "your diff has been flogged mate!"
Me "Ummmm flogged?"
Steve "Yep"

Me...."Sooooo someone walked out with a 5" long A9X diff"

Steve ..following much laughter........."No mate, the diff is in poor condition as it has been thrashed........you know flogged"

A big sigh followed by more laughter on both ends of the phone.

Got the rear end in all good. I'll have to get some new gaskets for the axle retainer to brake backing plate before I fit the axles n what not.

The 14 by 8s wont fit on the front. But fingers crossed I can squeeze a tyre under the rears.. Ill have to find some 14 by 7s for the front.

The 8's should fit on the rear. I know they wouldn't go on the front because that's what I have but with flares. 14x7's should be ok on the front I'd say

I use to have 14x8 dragways under my hatch with 245/50. I couldn't go much bigger because of the shockers.

You could fit a 225 or 235 14 on the 8 inch wide rims and, depending on offset, clear everything. I've got 245s under the bum of mine and can't lower the rear because it will scrub the outer guard lips. So the plan is to get something a bit narrower soon and lower the back.

I've got Pedders Low Springs in currently and the guards have been rolled. I don't intend on carrying 5 people in the car so should be all good then!!
