Me to mate, I have been bit up in the air about what paint scheme to run with, any ideas?
Zebra stripes? Polka dots ? Camoflauge ? Red white and blue with a big Yanky flag over it ?
Those are just off the top of my head of course..

Love the out there thoughts Jeff.
Zebra stripes....... They use that for street crossings, this Torana ain't gonna be walked over. LOL
I might leve the polka dots for the horse racing jockeys. Although you have the support of my daughter!!!
Camouflage was done on a Fraud Foulcan in the 80's on a Group C race car, is a well known car, don't want to copy.
If I did run with a Yanky flag would you want me to put a Chev bowtie badge on the grille?? There are plenty of Commodores over here already with an identity crisis!!
Any other ideas?

You could keep notes on it this way during the races.

Perfect.... The car can be one big mobile chalk board.

Be easy to advertise sponsers on it, or get autographs from passers by, play tic tac toe, etc...
A win-win for everyone really.

Caught up with OzyOzyOzy this morning, he bought over the hats and I am really happy with the fit now.
Ozy's mate at High Speed put the MSF hub on his table that measures things and I was surprised to know the results.
For 120.7PCD the lowest was 120.56 and the largest was 121.02 according to him.

I was talking about the rear of the wheel wells where the edge of the tyre catches on the firewall edge at full lock but maybe its just my eye sight, perhaps neither side has been touchedAre you referring to the Sheetmetal where the old brake booster sits?

I take it the arrows point to the spot you are asking about? You have a keen eye.

It is a an optical illusion, both are untouched.......yet. The plan is to cut that lip out and seam weld it. I will do the when I cut the guards.
Your not the first person to say something to me about doing this. It wasn't something I wouldn't have known to do.
Cheers for letting me know anyway.

Yes with the 8 degrees + caster and 275 or 315 tyre you certainly need room, so I find its best to take out the whole corner and plate them in, all while keeping the basic factory shape. Its neater, roomier and better than a big hammer and a butchers job. Unless you have another standard Torana in eye shot you don't know its done.
You may not be able to do this under the rules you have to abide by?

I agree with LXSS350, definitely try to bring it back a little further than just cutting the seam off.
For smaller rolling diameters you can just push it back a little:
Or for bigger diameters and lots of caster go the whole hog and cut some out:

The plan is to cut that seam back and weld it up. I'm only running a 225 tyre as per IP rules so clearance shouldn't be to bad.
I mounted the rotor on the hat and shinned the gaps on the caliper and rotor to mount it.
Really tight, I will need to massage the caliper a little!!

Wow a 225.
That's a big 25mm over a standard A9X tyre. They certainly don't want you getting too much grip. LOL

Probably an old number or me just screening calls LOL.
Always getting L34 guys ringing me up wanting to find out the secrets of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and how they can beat it !
One day when one of the Torana's is actually going and not in a million bits might finally get a day playing around up at barbs.
Yeah I know, tyre size is small.......... you don't need to remind me LOL.
You know what they say about feet size !!

Got a few hours on the car today. Got the front spoiler done, I am happy with the fit. I was a bit worried about it from what I have seen others have to do. I got the flares and spoilers from Wilsons who has since sold his molds to Ernicks Fiberglass.

The carrier arrived at Race Products. Strange Alloy bit of kit, looks very nice.
The brackets for the 3rd arm have been laser cut and folded for fitment and welding to the diff.
All looks good for them to make some good progress next week.

How good are race cars
Torana race cars do look tough, but I have wondered sometimes if I would have gone to extent I have with the parts I am using if I was building a road car.
