Diff looks sick.

Re the paint, yes you have to much fluid. Depending on yoru tip size and how much thinner your running, a general starting point is 2 1/2 turns out from fully in.

As far as tight areas with a pot type gun, rip the pot off, get a fitting to screw on where the pot goes from the paint shop with a bit of line, and run the line to the pot remotely, hold one in each hand....Its a talent but its worth learning :P

Cheers.

Wow that diff looks tuff... Dont forget to run the orbital over the parts you have wire wheeled with around 60 grit... The wire wheel will polish the metal too much and depending on the primer it wont stick too well.

Hey Bomber, yeah just a bit to much paint brought the gun! Will set the gun to 2.5 turns to start with next time. Good tip, cheers.

Clint, will give you a call tomorrow, will rub the parts down for sure, don't need what happened to the sub frame when I painted that.

I had a day of wire wheeling, cleaning then painting. I even had time to get out the home style sand blaster to clean up the door hinges. I haven't used that since I did the drivers side front wheel tub back a couple of years ago. They came up good enough.

I put the rotisserie frame to good use again and used it support both doors this time.

Next week I will clean up the bonnet hinges and the bonnet latch. Prime all the hinges and hang all doors and panels. Time to get the body straight.

Got a few a few hours this arvo to work on getting the hinges and a few other things primed. Work has ramped up a bit and I didn't have a chance all week to work on the car. The painting skills are getting better. I turned down the amount of paint coming out the gun and it's working heaps better. Thanks to the tip givers, Bomber and Viper. The diff arrived on Thursday, had a sneak peak at it, I am stoked to have a diff like that.

Before paint.

I made this jig up to clean and paint the bonnet springs. This way I could rotate them to clean and paint, also put the spring under tension to get between the coils.

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to the Forum run that Gene has got organized, gonna be a good day, might be hot as well. I heard it was going to be 36!!

Bring it on though, all those Torana's.............

I was a work this morning and got a couple of hours to hang the front doors and front panels and bonnet.

Working to the point where I can begin using the body filler to make it straight.

With work still really busy, Saturday is the only day to get stuff done.

Got the flares on and started work on the body filler. Funny thing happened, the first batch of filler I mixed up went hard in just over a minute!!! To much hardener.

I also had my 39th birthday during the week. The wife made a top birthday cake, a HDT Torana cake.

The cake looks finished ...... the racecar .....not so ! ..... LOL

You do know that work is taking up hours that you should be spending completing the racecar?

What happened to older and wiser?

Happy Birthday.

Ah the fine art of squirting MEKP into polyester....

The only thing more irritating than to much is not enough....

LIttle tip with the bog, its easyer to cover a larger area, like that back door, instead of filling the several spots like you have i would just wipe the whole half of the door that needs it, far easyer when it comes to sanding it back again and getting it straight.

Cheers.

Hi Bomber,
Yeah I worked that out after a while. I have taken that door off again, and working on it on a bench. I wiped a much larger area as you suggested, but what I did still needs more.

Always needs more hehe.

Dont feel bad putting half a tin into one door, at the end of the day you will block 1.8kg off for every 2kg you put on.

Cheers.

Happy Birthday.

My wife said pretty much the same thing, about the cake and my project!
Yeah, it's a bit frustrating, I was making some good headway a couple of months ago, it's slowed up a bit.
Cheers for the birthday wishes.

I had to go into work today as the boys were in and I had to be there, I didn't do any thing to do with work so I did a bit more on the car. Would have been good to give  Datto a hand with the shed stuff. FB has given updates and sounds as though its all going well.

I worked on the roof again today, it's starting to take shape and look good.

Nice stuff. Its about that point where its looking "close" that i would re epoxy it and start again, amazing how much easyer it makes it when its all one color again.

Cheers.

Diet this week,
I have been working on weight transfer within the driver / car combination as well. Less body weight for me, more weight in body filler on the car!
