I agree but he needs to feel guilty for going slow on his build !!
salad just doesn't sound right!!
Should get your wife on board with a plan. Salad only until the torana drives around barbs in anger.
Eating just salad will soon put the rabbit back in your motivation.

Sculpting tools, dust mask, sculpting tools, dust mask, sculpting tools, dust mask.......
I feel a bit like Michaelangelo and sculpting a masterpiece.
I haven't done as much as Marty has on his LJ but it's enough for me!!
The amount of filler that has gone into the roof show how badly the blaster stuffed it up.

Getting closer to re-painting the primer again.
It will be good when this part is done as it is as dust as hell and a bitch to clean up all the time.

And continue on with the body filler. I have had to do a fair bit of cleaning up with all the dust!!
I had a bit of work to do around the taillight bucket on the passenger side. It came up ok after what you see below.

I painted the areas I have been working on with Carmaster Primer Filler. A paint that Bomber Watson recommended.

I am really stoked how the roof turned out, it looks great.

The taillight bucket looks ok from this angle.

Needs work from this angle.

Doors came up ok, will give them a closer look later on. Ran out of time as cleaning up took ages.

Other parts I got painted as well.

What a shame he doesn't move as fast on the build as that run obviously did. ( I thinking it was trying to make it to the beaver)

Cheers Bomber, yeah the paint runs are a bit frustrating but I'll get better. That primer filler sprays totally different to the the primer surfacer.

At least you have no pride and don't care if anyone see's your f/u's. I can tell you that I would never show anyone but kids in kindy my painting ability. Talk about no talent. I think my philosophy with painting is more has to be better. The thinking is if I put enough on the panel then the run will eventually drip off and onto the floor and I will have a smooth glossy finish.
Hell I cant even use a roller on my walls at home without the excess paint leaving a racetrack curb in whatever pattern or direction I have moved the bloody roller. Paint what a PIA. No wonder I failed art at school.

What do you mean no talent?? I'm very good at paint runs! LOL
I have pride in the work I do but am not ashamed to show the FU's as well as the good stuff, only human. All of the stuff I have shown, I have never done before.
Lotsa learning.

I have been busy with work since early December and time on the car has been short, no, non existent.
Today after the boys went home I stuck around and dropped work stuff to have a look at the hi-fill painting that I did back in Dec.
I blocked it back and it showed up a few spots on the roof I wasn't happy with. Put some more filler on that and sanded back. It feels a lot better now.
I also have put more filler on a couple of small areas that I thought needed it. I hope to get another layer of hi-fill on it next week after work.
I haven't looked at blocking the doors, bonnet of boot lid yet.

I constantly look at photo's of this car, its a massive inspiration for me to get this thing done.
It is also similar to what I want my car to be painted up like. It's more than tough!!!

More bog less fast

Yeah Datto, I know I know .......it only has to look good once though. That's why I'm putting in the effort to make it look good.
Once it hits the arena of Barbagallo and gets racing I'm sure that will change.

hey mate that is perfect, the only other measurements that may be useful to me would be the length of the flats if that makes sense? haha
How do you find the ratchet mechanism for bending with it?
you have done an awesome job on that cage, and the rest of the car for that matter, really top shelf work.
thankyou heaps for those measurements

So the whole plan is to look good first time on the grid ..... but then you plan to knock the bog out of it once it hits the track???

Not exactly Col. I will be keeping as best I can, for as long as I can. But if I'm realistic about it, something will happen sooner or later.

The other competitors will help with the bog removal
Depending on where in the pack Craig plans to be

Craig from my experience
The best thing to do is to take the lead from the starting grid and then continue to improve your position till you pass the guy waving the chequered flag.
You should avoid like syphilis the bumper car derby rubbish back with all the riff raff (mid pack)
If you stay in the lead from the first corner you will have far less panel beating to do between races. (I call this the Seb form of racing pattern)
Well that's "Master Plan A" otherwise known as the winning plan ........ any other plan and your on your bloody own !!! LOL
The other thing you do is walk around the pits with an aluminium baseball bat to all you competitors and give them all a good crack in the left kneecap. (slows down their heel/toe movement)
Pays to lay down the law, then again nothing like a bit of the old Skaife vs Ingall race rage (VY Dunny) and jumping out with the old baseball bat keeps them honest and keep the bog in your panels.
The way your going on the speed of this build Craig you will be able to legally use my pension card and get a discount for the days racing.

I stayed back after work tonight to have another crack at painting the Hi Fill primer on. Much happier with this effort but still not totally happy. The more I do it the more picky I'm becoming. I will block this all back later and decide if I will do another layer of Hi Fill.

Won't want to spend to much more time at this stage of the build as I will end up legally being able to LXSS350's pension card, thanks for the offer mate.......

Careful buddy my card expires when they put me in the pine box which with all the filler and putty might be well before your ready for the track. LOL
Take plenty of photos before the first flag drops, because its bloody rare not to get involved in argy bargy especially into that first turn off the start.
