Its always a pleasure to spend time with your family. Mrs Eyepeeler never fails to put on a top spread.

Great to meet Howard and always have time for Paul and Mrs Got1.

great way to spend a sunday arvo.

We also bounced around an idea for another forum get together, but its a way off.

After 4 weeks of not working on the race car and the trip to Phillip Island I thought it about time to get on it again. I wasn't happy with boot lid and bonnet, bit of filler work and ready to paint again. Hope to do that sometime this week??

It's good to be back on it. Seeing the lads have fun on the track at PI has made it all the more important to get this thing done and out there.

Cheers guys, yeah that space is great. I've got a great boss who has let me keep the car at work.
I hope that's it for painting, it's cerainly no show car but good enough for a race car.

I haven't seen anyone do it either, but it made sense to me as it was the easiest way to support the panel if you wanted to paint both sides at the same time.
Only took 10 minutes to knock them up.

That's why I lay them down, I was worried about runs as well. Only stood them up when I painted the underside. Think the first photo shows them laying down.

Car unwrapped now. All things considered (race car), I'm pretty happy so far.

well, bit late arnt i.

Pressurepot spraying is a different beast, look at about 1/4-1/2 turns out on the fluid.

Really want a smaller fluid tip to, like 1-1.2mm.

And make sure you filter the shit out of the paint, as a little bit of shit might get caught in the fluid tip when you trigger the gun and hold it open, turning it into a paint hose....

And i wouldnt have used one on the outside of the car, but would have on the inside.

Looks good though mate!!!!

Cheers.

Got a few alignment issues to get right. I had it good prior to paint so I should be able to get it the way I had it.

I would have to agree with Bomber, painting with the pressure pot for the outside would be a mistake. What he said about crap getting caught in the fluid tip happened to me and the paint came out like a slug of water out a hose. Not good.

The suction pot I used last night worked a treat as it has for all other parts I have used it for earlier.

Dont worry mate i know your pain well, i use a 10lt pot for big jobs at work.

Sometimes doing the 10,000lt water tank bodies we build for trucks i get teh whole shit stuck in the tip effect, and its pretty well always whilst doing the sides.... And always on the second top coat..Considering priming, sealing, then top coating one is a solid 9 hour job with a bit of practice, its frOcking irritating.

THat said, i've learnt to make a joke about it, i now call them "feature pieces"

Cheers.

That looks frOcking tops. Great effort!! Cant beat the satisfaction of doing something yourself as well.

I plan to paint my current and any future cars. I have only done an engine bay so far, but was surprised just how good it looked straight off the cheap gun that I had purchased.

Keep up the great work! Cos racecar and not having to worry about interior trim, it should fall together pretty quickly now!
