Slow day today, pottered around with a few bit and pieces, my lad came with me for the morning and his intent was to help but he was more interested in going for a ride on the forklift!!
Thanks to Got1 I was able to get all the door hardware in, my passenger side front mechanism had a spring broken and wasn't working properly, Got1 let me rob one of his off him. I have new outside door handles and all the inserts to finish fixing the door rubbers on the way thanks to a friend in Adelaide.
Got all the glass cleaned up and again I bought a rear screen with demister for Got1.
Put the seat in for my lad to try out, that was funny watching him play race driver, very enthusiastic noises in his race!!

Be careful the young bloke might crash and ding her up. Then you will be back to shovels and bog.  :stirpot:

Your getting it back together ..... hell although not funny its going faster  than my summer rebuild progress.

Its still bloody hot for shed work.

Lighter isn't always better
You can have harmonics issues with poorly designed brackets resonating and vibrating if they aren't made of the right material and/or thick enough

They do look alittle kooky
But I assume your funneling some ducting between the bolt holes and thats why you have done it like that ?

I have some 3" nyladuct elephant cock if you need any for your flex hose.

Something like this ?

Hi Datto, yeah there is a plan to have ducting similar to your photo. At the moment I am making sure it all fits and I get full steering. It's as tight as a nuns proverbial inside the rim. To get it to fit, I am going to have to use a 30mm spacer. Even with that spacer it will fit under the flare but only just. Good thing about camber!!
Not sure the mounts are kooky??? Will show you a photo of the rear mounts that race products knocked up.

Considering he is 5 years old, his version of a crash is to lay the steering wheel in his lap and make lots of noise lol.
Your right though, if it does get dinged, I will be back on the trowel and shovel.

Let me know how you go with Paul

Gene, spoke with Paul during the week, I am going to ring him Monday to arrange fitting the glass front and rear. Hope to have it fitted before Easter weekend.

Hey Craig,

My first post on here in a while, very impressed with your build! I'm a big fan of those Cobra seats, just about to buy a Sebring Pro for mine  - keep up the good work!

Sam

Thanks Sam, appreciate it mate. Just so everyone knows, Sam has helped me with ideas on the 3rd link set up late last year, went out of his way to take some photos of his race car to show me.
I hope to get a couple of days in over Easter, depends on home stuff, but have got 1 day booked in. Got some parts from Rares today, thanks to Ian in Adelaide for helping me with parts.

I can now finish off the doors and get the glass back in.
The rear and front screen go in tomorrow.

Aside from the glass....is it just me, or does your outside mirror look kind of average? ;)

Yeah it does look a bit poo brown doesn't it. I still have a bit more to paint, like the bumpers and some other small items, will do the mirror then.

Thanks Daz, I was really impressed with the work done, the bloke owns an original 5 litre HZ Sandman, how good is that car, so being a car guy he knew it wasn't just an old Torana, it's my baby.

Glad your happy with the job Craig
Paul and his daughter do a great job

Thanks for recommending him Gene, good stuff.

Hi Dave, no hood lining mate. Only trim that I will be using is the door cards and upper dash.

Hood lining in a race car what next cup holders Cmon dave

No cup holders, but I have considered a centre console to store cut oranges to eat during a race LOL.

Hey Craig, progress is looking good!

Cheers Clint, be good to catch up again in a few weeks on the forum cruise.

Oranges?

Bit healthy are they not?

Perhaps make this the first IPRA with a rotisserie cup cake ejector?

Need to keep up the energy during the race  ...... LOL

Make a limit ....... like eject only one every 3 laps ........ or if your in the lead "it rewards you" and ejects 1 cup cake per lap. :stirpot:

(only downside with this reward basis is Cobra seat size - might need to upsize between meetings) ..... LOL

Reminds me of that movie War of The Roses when he said to his misses ... don't give the kids lollies then it cuts to years latter and the kids still eating lollies and both are fatso's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to serious:

Looks good. Shame the rules make you use glass in the side windows.

Windscreen have a green band at the top?

Who supplied them?

Funny Col. What do you think though, I could follow the lead of the Captain and put Cherry Ripes in the rotary ejector. He was known for throwing Cherry Ripes from his race car.

I'm not sure who supplied the windscreen? I would have to ask Paul, the bloke who installed it.

Oranges?

Don't mind a Cherry Ripe or three myself. ......LOL

(worse ones are those little bite sized ones then it takes six-eight cherry ripes)

I was just thinking cake to involve your missus in things of importance indulgence (i.e. happy wife = bigger torana budget)

No its looking like you going along quite well, especially since your doing a lot yourself. Just curiosity on the glass as its nice to throw it in the old brain cells that oh Craig used them I wonder how his bits are going.  Its a bloody PIA at times with suppliers and getting parts that are what they proclaim to be.

My god someone could make some money if they set-up a replica replacement parts business that supplied replica parts that fit as genuine parts did.
