With my racecars I tend to lockwire everything
I had an overrev once and spat the flywheel off the crank
So I went to grade 12.9 cap heads and lockwired each pair so it wouldn't happen again
Just food for thought

Do you have any pics of the top mounts for the rear shocks?
Btw, that clutch is car porn, looks great and the painted bumpers get a tick from me too!

1 7/8 primaries, 2" secondary into a 3" merge collector then into single side megaphone. Something like these.
That's a really neat set up Col, is it a car you know? Thanks for showing them. Massive rubber on it, what class does it race in?

A9X its a 4 speed TexRacing 101 racing straight cut dog box with a Tilton 184mm clutch. The Tex101 as you know is based on the T10 with souped up innards (gun drilled main shaft, lightened gears, shotpeened relief, magnesium case opt etc). I don't have an inside pre-finish but the mount is through the tunnel/floorpan onto an RHS that runs in front of the torana's inner seat cross-member to a plated inner sill panel (that is one of the rollcage side impact mounting points). The flat bar krisscross is additional support for the crossmember but also acts as a tailshaft catch. Where those flat bars actually bolt is into rhs reinforcement that is welded inside on the floor and forms the 10" rearward seats mounting.
Dave had a look on this pc but I have no direct clear pictures of the top mounting of the rear Bilstein coilovers, but it is the standard top mount position except it is heavy re-inforced with cross bracing between the tubs and diagonals from the watts link mounting. I put a picture of the bracing inside the hatch with the watts mount and cage points and top of the tub.
As far as showing/positioning the 2" step that's not an LS motor so not the headers. I was trying to get Craig to put down that big bit of cake and just showing him an idea for the exhaust layout using a megaphone. Where you go from 1 7/8 to 2" depends on cam, revs, torque, hp etc. The 1 7/8" to 2" to 3" merge collector is around where I would be looking for 550Hp on an LS but to tune them you have to nail all the details and then you have to work around chassis physical limits. Barbs is not a high speed track you might touch 240kph for a bees dick but then your back hard on the brakes. Just a matter of balancing out what you have and making it work for the track your racing on. Its amazing how much faster and how much time you can shave with the right chassis and engine tune.
Craig that car doesn't have a category to run in, but it has run in display races at MCM. Barbs only chews tyres and spits them out so think about all the money your saving by using grandma's corolla tyres. LOL They are about the same sized tyres as yours?

That is a serious amount of reinforcing!

As you know the old torrie twists and flexes at the best of times but with a lot of horsepower its actually quite dangerous. However the street is one thing but on a track where big ultra sticky tyres are in use then things need reinforcing.
With the delays in Craig getting this finished and his excessive eating habits I am concerned that re-inforcing might be not enough in this case !!

Col, you gotta lay off the sauce!! That image is ugly.....
You know that the first time I meet you I am going to have a cake made and ready for you to take home.
I might even get the wife to make you a Hatchback Cake, similar to the ones she made me for my birthday.
Good info though on the exhaust, Will be good to get the engine in and start looking at the design.

Hatch owners are not only lightning fast (race records/win by 6 laps etc etc etc) but we are just as bloody pretty as our cars are. ..... LOL
Taxi drivers well lets not see photos of any of that schmoozel.

Great news that Michael Schumacher is out of a coma and has left the hospital.
It was bloody grim for a while. Personally though I can't wait for young Daniel to race again this weekend he is driving just like I taught him to drive.

Cr#p I am like the guy in the mini I don't even like walking past a mirror nowdays as honestly it scares the bloody bejesus out of me. I don't feel that old in my head its just those bloody mirrors and all the mechanics and plumbing that is always broken down LOL
Bit like the plastic engine that is always trying to pump all the oil out via the rocker covers. LOL

Hang on buddy are you going to get the car going or not?
We want the Go-Pro video proof on it's maiden laps.
Remember hatchbacks win by 6 laps and set a lap record on the last lap.
Anything less and your just another taxi driver with a hard to pronounce name and a scary security dash photo. .... LOL

GoPro huh, might show me up!
6 laps, 6 laps yeah yeah I get it, there are 2 hatchbacks here in Perth who run in IP, that's the bench mark to beat.
Mind you there is a very nice LHD mid 80's Mustang being built for IP here in Perth that will show a few of the front runners a thing or 2.

We need a laugh your video ... LOL
Your seriously are not going to let some nancy ass mustang beat the mighty torana?
You need to be like this bloke ------- grab a pair ! ......... LOL
By being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, we are competing to win. And the main motivation to all of us is to compete for victory, it's not to come 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th.
Ayrton Senna
When old A9X raced Targa in his old hatchback it took a Porsche with much bigger tyres to beat him.
But then again he was in a hatch ...... LOL
Winning is everything, as they say coming 2nd just means that you are the first of the Loosers !!!

I've never raced a car before so it will be good just to get it out there. Don't plan on being a girls blouse behind the wheel either, if the car is up to it and I don't run out of talent, it should do ok.
Marks car is a well built machine that has a pretty good steerer behind the wheel. Good combination, but yeah his car certainly proved that the Torana can mix it with em'.

I never new that .... Wow 400kgs that is a whole lot of weight + the rubber advantage.
Anyone who has tried removing 400kgs off a car knows that.
Bit like the penalty for the extra 43cu the 351 fraud got an extra 350kgs on top of the Torana.

Yes but your a young whipper snapper and can learn. I think you will have some good fun and lets face it how many world champions can live in Perth and drive IP?
What lap times are the fast ones doing?
Yes A9X drove really well and the car sounded really great. It's consistency and getting the car set-up to make you feel comfortable. I know I can't just jump into any car and go fast because it takes me time to set it up for me. I have had good mates jump into my car and hate it but I like it or I wouldn't tune it like I do. But I could never race as a pro even when young because I am a poor looser and I would hate to be Alan Grice on the track because I know what building a car involves.
