Was the part of the cage that you have the steering mounted to approved by the CAMS inspector?

Might be a point of contention.
Everything I can find relates to the steering column and mounting needing to be unmodified.
But given that the section of dash needed to be removed for the approved cage may provide an opening.
And would think that if the position is within the scope of the positioning allowable with original it may go through.
That could be a problem point with a scrutineer.

No worries.
Im an electrician.
We have a rule book.
Learned years ago that there can be more than one interpretation to a rule.
Provided you could back it up in context with the situation you could get it past all but the most anal inspector.
I have to work at last count under the auspices of 32 different AS/NZ standards depending on what I am doing.
There are a lot of areas open to interpretation in those rules.
As you arent racing for sheep stations Im guessing the rules are there to allow freedom to an extent.
Its more about the racing than the rules. To an extent anyway.

Cheers.
It took over 4 cars to build this one. The original LX race car then 2x LX, 1x UC plus other cars bought & sold to gather better panels. Veeeeery hard to get perfect parts but should be done in a mth or so.
Yeah the contact with EO is important. Even in regards to my fuel tank. Being a traditional drop tank there were few issues however a simple Q&A cleared it up.
I nearly went all out and ordered a bladdered DropTank but he quoted simply if the races dont go over 30min no foam or bladder required. Then he pointed out that ipra doesn't have meetings with over 12 lap races (from memory).
The above is example of if I spat it and went off and redid without speaking to the EO I would have spent so much extra time & money on something I really didnt interpreted properly.
Either way you have to choose your battles. If you never mention or cant see the steering column then it wouldn't matter. If incorrect & to hard to hide then that's the proble.
I look forward to seeing this weapon of your on the track.

Hey eyepeeler I would like to think your car would comply with the rules as they are .Unless they have changed a lot since I ran in the class back when it was called road reg /club cars ( I used to own the car Paul Rule now owns ) as I had to do similar mods to fit a muncie box in the car back then and was never a problem.Hope it all works out for you.

Cheers Daz, I think your on the money. I have had a few PM's from the IP forum saying just what you said. Most of the negatives were on the discussion. It's not quite black and white. But have to agree, what I have done wont suddenly take the car up a notch to compete with the best at national level. Shit I cant even make it Barbagallo yet!!
