Tacked 2 plates together to make the flange and the lid.
Made up a baffle for the oil returning to the bottom of the tank.

Does the oil pickup from the tank have a mesh filter over it?
Just a little concerned one of the nuts on the baffle could come loose and make its way into the oil system. You could hammer over the end of the bolts over to prevent the nut from escaping if you have already done so.

Liked minded Andy, was going to put a weld tack on them.
I have Loctite them on, but though the same last night driving home, just weld it was the answer.

Thanks for the shed tour yesterday Craig. I'm sure you had plenty on your plate, so to give me some of your time was great mate.
Thanks also to Dave Mac for escorting me around the big smoke. I got to see some awesome cars and a shed any hairdresser would be proud to own.

I think Craig has gone about this all wrong anyway. He should rip the V8 back out of the racer and transverse mount the 202 in there. Much better weight distribution and he could do the timing on the run through a hole in the firewall.

Hey Darky, Since getting back from Adelaide I have been pushing to get the shed built.Been a while................................need some help?
I have had a couple of hours on the race car but nothing really to speak about.
The only thing I have done is finish the oil tank for the dry sump.
Yeah the 202 should really go in favour of a V8 but I do like it as it is.
I have sourced another 6 to put in it while I rebuild the original one.
There aren't many weekends free between now and Christmas and time on anything will be short.

Maybe you need to drop over for a beer and tell me about why this is a good idea??

Engine: LS2 6 litre
Built by SRE and said HP is 550.
Any suggestions welcomed..
G'day Craig,
I was doing some more research on LS engine numbers and I remembered this thread, so I found one of your photos that looks like the first part of your engine number is 6MB05305xxxx
If my research is correct then that's not actually an LS2, it's one of the very first L76 6.0L engines built by Holden (on the 1st of November 2005) and this one left the factory in an early 2006 VZ Series II Commodore with an auto trans.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, the L76 is the same block casting as an LS2 except they have extra oil passages drilled for the DOD/AFM, which I assume SRE would have removed and blocked off?
They also had better cylinder heads than the LS2, yours has the "5364" cast # L92 rectangular port heads.
Do you have any specifics about what SRE threw in there?

~ I bought the engine way back a few years ago, came with the standard water pump and an ATI Super Damper fitted.
Turns out the Super Damper is the wrong offset for the pump, serpentine belt is not in the right position!!
Frustration goes a small way to describing it.
Okay back over here then... yep there's three different depth balancers on LS engines...

...don't quote me on this but I *think* Commodores get the middle one from the Camaro?
But looking at yours I'm guessing it's a completely custom offset because of the scavenge pump drive? Which no doubt means the alternator won't line up either so there's gonna be a custom bracket needed there too?
Maybe a Moroso electric water pump might be an easier option? Plus it gets rid of that damn ugly LS water pump!

EDIT:
Either that or try and buy a water pump off a "truck" motor as they must have a longer snout (obviously you would still buy a new one as a spare part, not a dirty old truck one)?
EDIT 2:
Actually, you could just have some alloy spacers machined up to space your current pump out away from the block the required amount, similar to how the Moroso pumps fit...

...but it's all starting to snowball because then you're up for custom brackets for the idlers/tensioner pulleys as well.

Bit late now, but will post up a bit of info and a few photos tomorrow.
Long story short is that I hope the later LS2 water pump fits my engine. I'll explain what later.

You can buy water pump spacers so you can run a Camaro style water pump with a truck harmonic balancer.
There are lots of different suppliers.

I was considering running a Truck harmonic balancer to make more room for an A/C compressor.
