Did a couple of boring jobs today.

Got the accelerator pedal mocked up so I can get an alloy one made.

Made a mock up jig for the pulley that replaces to power steering pump pulley.
Again, going to make it out of alloy.

I am also in the process of finishing all the oil lines.

Instead of making that setup from scratch, you can just move around the idler pulley and reroute the belt a bit different from memory and not need the extra stuff..

I had moved my alternator up to a high mount setup, so don't have the power steer delete issue either. I used brackets from Kwik Performance..

Why do they insist on running the water pump off the back of the belt anyway? It's such a PITA...

Why has nobody designed an LS water pump that spins in the opposite direction so you could bolt up a standard (ribbed) pulley and run a short belt around the crank. alternator and WP in the traditional triangular pattern?

After some more research I've found that "6MC" LS2 should be one of those very early "Franken-engines" that, while technically a Gen IV motor, still had the 24x Crank Reluctor and 1x Cam Trigger etc. from the Gen III?

Correct, the LS2 has the 24 tooth reluctor and cam trigger from the LS1 but used a drive by wire throttle body, different knock sensors mounted on the side of the block and a E40 ECM.

You can run a LS1 ECM and cable throttle body on the LS2 if you fit the LS1 knock sensors and a cable throttle body with LS1 TPS and IAC.

I was very tempted to leave it and do,it that way. I found that same image when deciding what to do.
The only thing I didn't like about the set up in that picture was the belt only covered a 1/4 of the balancer.
Having the pulley where the PS pump would be keeps the belt covering 1/2 the balancer.
I don't want to move the alternator high either because of where I have put the oil tank.

Yes, I do, am giving my machine bloke a chance to price it first. CRS was $240 from memory.
I also need a pedal made, that's why I am trying the machinist first.

I have had to move the reservoirs for the clutch and brake master cylinders. They fouled the line for the accelerator pedal cable.
Bit of a bugger having to move them but they found a good home behind the glovebox lid.

Attached File  image.jpg   86.71K   2 downloads

I have got all electronic equipment mounted ready for the Sparks to do his bit and wire the car.
I moved where I mounted to fuel reg to allow more room for the cable.

I also fabricated my own gear leaver. It's made out of 25x10 flat bar. I bought a SAAS gear knob from AutoOne for $30, it came up a treat and does the job really well.

I also have started making a new accelerator pedal. I decided not to get an alloy one made up and make my own.
I used the butchered original pedal which is cut and bent to the shape I want as a template.
I started with a 35x5mm flat bar 600mm long. Cut and beht the cable mount at the top first. Then heated and bent all the offsets and bend to get a shape that works. There is still a bit of cutting and shaping to go but the basis of it is done.

Just noticed your fuel line...so will you just have the feed on one end and return come out the other end?

When I had talked to Aeromotive about setting up my fuel system, they said the "better" way to do it (and how I did) is to Y off the feed and have the feed going into each fuel rail and return out of each end....supposed to be more balanced fuel delivery that way I think.  For just stock standard type stuff I know a lot of people just do it with feed in, loop around and out the other end though, but I figured I would go the route they talked about.

Might look at that later on, it sounds like a better way to run it.

Finished off the pedal tonight. Cut a bit of the bar off and shaped it to what I want. Looks a lot less chunky, lol!!!

I made my own pedal pad with a pivot as per original so the pad will pivot and stay flat to the foot as the pedal swings through it range.
Not hard to knock it up and it works a treat.

Installed it to check out how it works, very happy with the result. The spring it temporary as it will be replaced with a heavier spring later on mounted properly.

Wow what a read. I've been in and out of this thread for a while. But I just binge read from the middle of 2014 I think it was to present day.

I've got to say you are a bloody champion doing all this work to such a high standard. Nearly made me go out to the shed and look at my car, but a beer was closer and easier to finish so I did that instead

Cheers mate appreciate the comment. Not sure the engine would be TCM legal?? It's the biggest engine I can legally run in Improved Production.

Yeah they do look like a pain to fill but a sauce bottle with a small hose tube will fix that. The windscreen demister vents can be used as well to poke a tube through as there is no plenum under it.

Shame you didn't make it to the shed! It does take a bit of effort to keep at it though.

love this build, clever bloke!

Cheers Greg, appreciate it mate.

Its been a while since i updated this thread.

I have working on it, just not posting. Tapatalk not working makes it harder.

I decided to re-make the panel which the keypad is mounted to , wasn't happy with the design after I moved it from the trans tunnel.

Made it out of alloy.
