mate I have tried so many different types of mufflers, there isn't alot of ground clearance when you have them running side exit like that - in the end I decided to bring both banks together and have them exiting out the passenger side, I get 2 X 3 inch X 12 inch hotdogs and section each one then join them together to make one muffler 2 in and 2 out - works well not as loud as you would think - also much stronger and can take more of a beating (over curbs) than a regular muffler

A bit too low I think.

Turns over and runs. No tune on the engine yet, goes on the dyno next week.
No leaks that I can see. Thermostat doesn't seem to be working, will test that later on.

WooHoo! It now lives outside your head too!

I tried two different browsers and still couldn't watch that video online, I ended up having to download it and play in WMP.

Cheers Andrew, it is such a releif to hear it turn over and fire up. I did get a laugh when I watched the video it took, it sorta sounded like a throaty lawn mower on the video.
It doesn't sound like that in person, and it will change when it gets tuned on the dyne for sure.
Your totally right, it now outta my head and own its own! Major milestone just jumped after 5 or more years.

Congrats Craig sounds the business

Thanks Gene, can't wait to get it on the dyno later next week.
Will sound even better.

I do have to dump the water out of the radiator as I think the thermostat is not opening up. Engine ran hot in start up.

I have been following this from the start. Very happy for you!
It's a great relief when you finally hear it fire up then get to drive it for the first time.

There is no doubt you will enjoy racing it.
With all the work you have gone through, hope you don't trade too much paint with others!!!

Hey Craig, I run a 4 speed Jerico without a cooler. Oil temp is generally well under 100 deg c.

Hey Paul, appreciate you letting me know that. I emailed Jerico just over 2 weeks ago to find out about start up and running in and they let me know then that I needed a cooler for the 5 speed. I replied to them with the average length of race and they replied in bold that I NEED a cooler. When I asked what size, they said any size which sort of made me wonder. So I got one on their insistence which I will put in.
How many litres does the 4 speed take? I got told to only put in 1 litre in the 5 speed.

Cheers Grant, appreciate it mate, it's been a massive road to get here. Looking forward to getting on the dyno later this week.
I went out to Barbagallo yesterday with my mates Monaro, looks like heaps of fun. The test and tune day was really cool, pretty relaxed, just got to be ready for your session.

1 litre sounds way too little for a box of that size, T10s are around 2, T56 is around 4 litres.

T56 is around 4 litres.

Wow. I don't think I've ever put more than 2L in a box before.

Was advised to overfill mine through the reverse light switch for better shifts, from a guy that tricks them up. It shifts better than my SSV ute and Monaro which all have Rip shifters in them and mine only has the standard magnum shifter, and its a better feel.

The jerrico that craig has is not like your normal 4 speed versions.
From memory, correct if im wrong craig its a lay down version.
Not mainshaft on top of counter shaft.
The 2 shafts are angled to be almost side by side,
Which makes them much shorter in height, which means less oil.
Howard's litre 8 is the same.

but!

specsavers have a great deal on at the moment!
