A Rose amongst the roses. November is pick up month for sure.
Has been road tested. Found a few small things but nothing major.
Well worth waiting for. Guys are perfectionists.

The big day has arrived. Thanks to my Mexican mate Robbo for the video and pics.
Absolute gentleman.
Rode down in his rat HZ. Interesting bumpy ride only 100mm from the pavement.
Listened to stories all the way down from his Bright hot rod holiday.
His HZ has the heart beat of my LX from previous years in it with my redline manifold and 350 holley.
Would like to say I am the skinny fella holding the door. But I am the fat fella with less hair than I like to admit on my head
Could not speak more highly of Rusty from Bayside customs and his guys. They were always a plesure to deal with.
Never did they not have time for me. Never once did he not get back to me even if it was a few days late.
As a busy person mate I can understand that.

The first time i have driven the old girl since about 2000 i think

Nice work, love the detail such as no missing chrome moulds from around the windows ect. Did you ever get your tag back? if you didnt maybe a nice rebuilt tag where it was would look nice, How long til Rego?

Best looking Persian sand car I reckon I have seen. Bet it is nice in the flesh too.

Thanks Guys,
Tracking down all the small bits and pieces was hard but worth it.
It was interesting to see that the small chrome trim piece between the front and rear door does not line up with the
chrome on the doors exactly. Rusty had wished he knew this prior and was able to move the hole.
I can only imagine it must have been like this.. Has any one ever noticed this? I am not fussed about it. there has been a
few strange things on the car like that.
Makes me wonder if the doors have dropped. but I suspect you would see that in the gaps. I need to say the gaps are perfect everywhere.
The skinny tag is still a sore point. It is only a 4 door SL. but it would have completed the car.
I have the VIN number still and have thought of having one made by a mate.
Milled out of a block of aluminium. would not be as thin but it would put something in that spot where the holes are.
Would be able to put my own twist on the tag then as well.
Yes the down sized photos and video don't do it justice. It is even nicer in the flesh.

Beautiful car. Once owned a persian sands and have always liked the colour. Think its somewhat under appreciated . Much rather it ,especially with the flares etc. than some of the other colours you commonly see.
Well done, enjoy it.

Thanks. I love the colour.
Anyway I take delivery of her Thursday afternoon with these fellas. Looks like it will be in good hands.
Going to be an emotional home coming.

Few pictures of the home coming.
She really did ride in style.

Couple of nice friends to ride with. Not quiet as good as the torana in my opinion.

Great stuff and home in time for Christmas.

I thought I might finish up my project by listing all the companies I used along the way. If they are here their product is on the car and working. Some needing no inspection by myself, others needed some minor post-operative work. Most of them people already know of.
1. Brad Merrick. (Got me started on the project and supplied the head lamps)
2. Westend performance Campbelltown. (Engine build)
3. Diff Technics Sydney. (Salisbury 10 Bolt)
4. Aussie 4 speed specialists Sydney. (4 speed to match engine output and shifter)
5. Wilson Fiber glass. (Retired now. flare moulds with another company)
6. Dash Original SA. (Lower, upper dash)
7. Torana RPA. (A9X recovery, clips and bits)
8. Aussie blast in Minto. (Blasted and powder coated pedal sets, cross members bumper mounts etc)
9. Rare spares. (Plenty of bits and pieces, side mirrors etc)
10. Antique tires (For my front eagers)
11. Seat Belt Solutions WA. (Seat belt re-webbing)
12. All metal bumpers Ingleburn. (Bumper bars and zinc work)
13. Vintage wiring harness Ringwood (Restored, created, V8 loom from my 6 and spares)
14. Kingswood country. (More bits and pieces)
15. EBay (plenty of bits and pieces)
16. Hume performance (Rochester rebuild)
17. Bayside customs (hastings Vic) . I cannot speak more highly of Rusty and his guys. They obviously did the majority of the assembly work to a point where I could drive the car. Doing a car restoration through any place does not come cheap. But one thing that makes it all worth it is the attention to detail they had and their professionalism.
The end. (i hope)

Cheers Gene. It will be the LX this year. Just hoping I won't be the only Persian Sand there.
Have been looking at accommodation near Maitland.
But I figure we will stay at the Quest in Newcastle as we did the last couple of years and enjoy the
30Km drive out to the show ground. Has a great lockup car park with trailer sized parking spots.
The kids always like it and more importantly the missus approves.
